Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I say "I love you" every time I'm ending a conversation with a family member or close friend.
It's an old habit that started when I was really little. One day, as my dad was leaving for work, I suddenly realized that there was a possibility that I might never see him again. Why I thought this, especially at such a young age, I don't remember, but I was suddenly terrified. What if something happened and that was the last time I ever saw him? I scrambled out of bed and ran downstairs, threw my tiny arms around his leg and told him that I loved him. I wanted to make sure that he knew just in case that was the last thing he heard from me.
I've been doing that ever since.
Important? I think so, but I'll tell ya, it can cause some embarrassing moments. I get so use to saying it that sometimes I blurt it out at... well... the wrong time or to the wrong person...
For example, the last time I spoke to my therapist on the phone I was distracted when it was time to end the call. Without thinking I said something along the lines of "Okay, I'll see you next week. Love you!" I didn't even realize my error. There was a brief moment of silence, then "Umm, Bree... I think we need to have a talk..." Mind you my therapist was a young, married man.
Oops!!!
Thankfully, he believed me when I explained!

Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

The trouble with saying I Love You comes from the interpretation of others like your therapist. That's funny.
I do the same thing, and I have on occasion said I love you to my Pdoc
{ NOT in a transference sort of way }
Although, I don't know what's more awkward, a situation like what happened with my shrink or the more current slip ups with my extremely recent ex! We're doing the whole "still friends" thing, but every once in awhile those pesky little words just roll off my tongue when we're saying g'night. Oh, the awkward silence.... Aaaarrrrgghhh!!!!!
