Hi. I have been taking Seroquel for a couple of weeks for sleep. I started on a low dose of 25mg once daily at bedtime.
Since then I have raised my dosage 3 times and am now taking 100mg. I am still not sleeping.
I was wondering how much more higher I should go with this med before giving up?
Does anyone take this med for sleep?? How much of a dose do you take??

grandiose? is seroquel all you are taking? There might be other factors involved, but you only have to ask him/her questions as to why? and if you are not getting any answers, i would say, to find another doctor.

I take 300mg at night for Bipolar 1...I've taken it for about a month, but I haven't been overly consistent at first, cause it definitely slowed me down cause i was in a manic state and didn't want to come down. Used to really knock me out for about 12 hours practically to the minute, and although I'm starting to be more consistent and get used to it, it still definitly makes me sleepy and I go out within the hour. I wasn't sleeping without it either. Good luck!!!

I take 200mg of Seroquel and 10mg Ambien. I anticipate an increase in Seroquel because I'm only sleeping about six hours.

I take 300mg's and sleep really well

I'm taking 200 mg at bedtime and it works great. After about a month I wasn't as tired during the day.

Take 100mgs every night.Take 3 to 400 mgs when Im manic.

Are you guys who take seroquel at doses of 100 to 900 mgs self medicating or following doctors advice? Just curious.

silent1nomore, good for you, but i hear others on here that make it sound like they are self medicating, and that is dangerous. overdosing on meds can make you tolerant after a while and taking the pills will not work. So my advice is FOLLOW the doctors orders and follow the amount on your prescription i am saying this because i care.

I am self medicating by doctors order. If the dose I'm taking isn't working after a couple of days he wants me to increase another pill which is 25mg. I am at 225mg last 2 nights but will be raising dosage tonight another 25mg.

My son took for awhile at 100mg. He's 7. Didn't help him sleep much. He became coldly calculating in his anger and was literally plotting the best ways to hurt others. Eeh. NOT a good thing. It also caused him to become extremely hyper and made his movements spastic and jerky. I tried previously but could not tolerate even the lowest dose.

i used to be on this ages ago, and the dose for me depended on how wired i was. sometimes a low dose, sometimes a high dose. as with all meds it depends on the person. and maybe the med just isnt the one for you? sometimes i take a strong antihistamine when sleep is just not coming to me. i find it not as groggy fx wise the next day and yet i still get some sleep too.

i was up to 200mg a night and still couldn't sleep so i quit taking it
