Hi. I have been taking Seroquel for a couple of weeks for sleep. I started on a low dose of 25mg once daily at bedtime.
Since then I have raised my dosage 3 times and am now taking 100mg. I am still not sleeping.
I was wondering how much more higher I should go with this med before giving up?
Does anyone take this med for sleep?? How much of a dose do you take??

Hey all, Im gonna take one more seroquel so I can sleep. I have been taking 100 mg around 9 pm and another 100 around 3 am. I have been sleeping for 15-20 minutes when I take the 1st pill then I wake up in a manic state. I then stay awake until 3-4 am,fighting my demons, then Ill break down and take another 100, then I go to sleep and sleep for 4-5 broken hours. Im gonna take another 100 here in the next few and see what happens. My dr lets me self- dose. I just want to sleep all the way thru the night.

A comment for Hillybilly....brace yourself...Is your doc a quack? Why not take an adequate dose to begin with?

I take 200mg at night but I also take Lunesta and other meds ..Like Geodon ,Noronton and Lamctal and Effexor..Seraquel will make you gain wieght but if you are careful enough and eat right you will have good chance of not gaining too much wieght..I also take 50mg in the afternoon to help with the raceing thoughts..It does not make me sleepy unless I take my Lunesta with it..Good luck with finding the right cocktail for you..

I've been taking seroquel about three years now. It's been a great med for me. I started taking 200mg twice a day. I have worked up to taking 400mg twice a day. It keeps my head on straight but I've never known it to make me sleepy.

I too have just started Seroquel for sleep and have been having issues. I am at a 50mg dosage right now and it takes several hours to actually activate and then knocks me out. The down side is I suffer something akin to a hangover the next day. I took one pill two nights ago and sleep for 18 hours well into the next day. I am finding the drug to be a challenge and also feel like giving up. I can only take the pill if I am not going to work the next day for I have such anxiety about sleeping through my alarm or feeling drowsy and cranky the next day at work.

I have just recently started on Seroquel...about a week ago and am now on 300 mg. Ireally do like it. I sleep so very well but it is difficult to wake up and get around in the morning, but once I do and I have a cup of coffee than I am good to go and so much better than I can ever remember being. I really do hope this helps

I would google it...but if I am not mistaken, I took 300 mg for a long time.

my doctor raised my seroquel up to 400, but i was sleeping 12-16 hours a day, so he lowered it to 200, but it was not enough, so he raised it to 300, now i am sleeping really well.

pulpit, i am glad to see that you are not self medicating, but letting your doctor do his job. regulating medicine and finding out what really works for each individual is really trial and error. but doctors do find the right dosage i would say 97% of the time. Good luck on your next appointment.
