Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I've been dealing with a whole slew of new or worse health issues over the past 6 months and had been keeping pretty stable emotionally. I had an appointment today, though, where my PT mapped out all the different treatment plans and programs and consultations that have been recommended, that I need to do, and it really overwhelmed me. I'm also going to start needing a wheelchair at least part time, and talking about that too... I came home and realized I was actually depressed and had been depressed for at least a week but not willing to deal with it. Mild/moderate depression is a little terrifying for me because for the longest time I believed that severe, suicidal depression was the inevitable next step. I realized today that I don't believe that any more. I'm still pretty depressed, but at least I believe I'll feel not depressed again at some point... And I hope that point will come sooner if I acknowledge my depression instead of just pretending it's not there.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

When you combine it with bipolar disorder, it Is more complex. Do see a therapist, as they know the strategies you can use to tackle these feelings. Journaling is good, but there are many other issues, when it is combined with physical health. I have severe Rheumatoid Arthritis, and depression is something I had to fight for the last 2 years since my meds failed again. I lost my pdoc moving to a small town, but I do have some good friends who really helped me through it.
As Marlene wrote other tools can help to get you through... I'm sorry that you are both struggling right now..... xo
