Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Maybe I am being dumb but I have a strong phobia of posting topics or replying. I have replied to several posts (especially recently) but it is like someone with arachnophobia making themselves touch a spider. I get anxiety and my heart starts racing. I always feel like everything I say is just stupidly long and not at all helpful.
In the "other" list, I have a phobia about making phone calls.
What is a phobia you have?

I have a phobia of driving on the interstate. I have to do it to get to school and it is very difficult.
I also have social anxiety. I used to have a phone phobia and wouldn't answer the phone and I wouldn't open the mail either.
I'm better in some of these areas now that I'm more stable. It has taken a long time and a lot of therapy to help and the right meds.
Boy, we Beepers can be pretty messed up, can't we?
Thanks everyone for posting your phobias, especially the phone/post/social phobias. Thank you SO much. When I told my therapist about my phone phobia, I asked her, "Is that weird? Have you ever heard of that before?" She said no but people can have phobias about just about everything. It made me feel like when I was a kid and my grandmother would pat me on the head and say, "Awww, bless your heart" with a pity look.
Her solution? Make more phone calls to help with the anxiety. (O_o) really? Even thinking about it makes me anxious!
My dad was visiting me a couple times (or maybe I was visiting him) and he said we could have pizza and that he would pay for it if I would just call it in. But he KNOWS! Now, I've found a loophole...I order online with my computer and come back and say, "Okay, all done. ready in 20min" muahaha!
Doorknob: Not being able to read facial espressions is a large part of my phone phobia but BEING able to read people's facial expressions is one that thing that makes me nervous about talking to people in person. It makes me feel like I'm screwed either way.
Lightbright: You mean to tell me that they aren't monitoring all of us with listening/surveillance devices (aka TVs) as well as satellites and street cameras? Wait, do you work for them?! aaaahhhh, you're one of them! But seriously, in today's age, I feel like that, too, but I don't tell anyone because, duh, I don't want them to know I'm on to them ;)
Eulen & SunCloud: you crack me up!
beckyp: Driving makes me somewhat nervous because depending on how I feel at the moment, I'm not sure what will happen and I fear I might be in danger from myself! I usually prefer someone to ride with me or, better yet, drive me if I have to go anyone. My brother has been staying with me for the last few weeks while he out of school (he is 14). He will ride with me anywhere I go because as long as I am talking/listening to him, I am mostly okay to drive. If it is bad enough, I will just refuse to go because I don't want to put him in danger. Sometimes he is the ones that wants to go and I feel bad but know it's the best for us both.
To everyone lol: Tonight as I was waking up (weird sleep schedule) and my brother was going to bed, he wanted to stay up but decided he would go ahead and go to bed because he was "kinda out of it but still less scatterbrained than [me]. Well, that's really not saying much though. heheh. You know it's true!" He is only 14, we have a great relationship, and he meant no ill will when he said it. He was only joking but the sad part was that he was right. There is often a little true in any such joke as this.
I have issues regarding people watching, criticizing, and talking about me. Waxes and wanes.
I have major courthouse & bank issues. ptsd. Not phobia, more avoidance perfected. I managed not to go to a bank for over 20 years.
I have a tough time with phone calls. Not sure why. I procrastinate still, even though I know it doesn't help.
I think it is part of bipolar-P syndrome.
I know I sound so crazy. I hate being this way.
My uncle delved deep into government conspiracies and explained to me the *real* reason for the street cams and lots of other stuff for when the government issues marshall law and shuts down the whole country and stuff. With as paranoid as I already was he freaked me out.
