Maybe I am being dumb but I have a strong phobia of posting topics or replying. I have replied to several posts (especially recently) but it is like someone with arachnophobia making themselves touch a spider. I get anxiety and my heart starts racing. I always feel like everything I say is just stupidly long and not at all helpful.
In the "other" list, I have a phobia about making phone calls.
What is a phobia you have?

Hey All...I hope that you have a lovely, peaceful beginning of your weekI have a bunch of chores that need doing but may put them off til tomorrow and just hang out with my landlord/roomie todayWhat about you?...Anything special going on?Have a great day and take good care of you!!..Xo

I have a post phobia too.... but the mail kind..... I usually leave it for days before I open it.. I never open post over the weekend unless it's a letter from someone I'm expecting.... if it's something that needs addressing I know I can't do it over the weekend anyhow so it wait's until Monday morning..... I don't have bills coming in as they are all paid by direct debit so it's not like I'm avoiding bills... I've been like this since living on my own.... just a fear of getting bad news through the post I presume.. same with the phone calls..... both these things stress me to high heaven and I so wish I could just get over them... such simple things others take for granted but which fill me with dread :(
So having a posting phobia is not dumb its part of the joy of living with bp, hopefully it will get better for you over time.
It's getting worse as I get older the pdoc told me it would and that if I let if I will be a prisoner of my very own bedroom.....his exact words to me!
So I push outside my comfort zone and take my klonopin and breath alot............it's good that you posted and stepped outside your comfort zone!! That is a huge step in the right direction....kudos!! I hope to see you on the boards more now*hugs*
I used to have a phobia of posting, being around people, talking to strangers and picking up the phone and found out it was social anxiety. Since being treated for anxiety I don't suffer from this anymore.
But let me add, your reply on my post regarding SSDI was very helpful!!! I hope you keep replying and sharing your experiences with us. It seems you have some good stuff to offer!
Thank you so much.
I do not like being out socially unless I'm just with one or two people that I know really well and I don't go far or for a very long period
I'm fortunate that the people that are closest to me are very understanding and accepting of my ways
I also have a phone phobia !
And fear of flying
And fear of the future
And fear of public places
And And And .....
:)
I have such bad phone phobia, I have to write down everything I want to say and then read from it.
(This only concerns 'business calls', where I pretty much know what's going to be said.)
I have to have my name, address, and phone number written down and in front of me. Without it, I'm too anxious to think of the correct information.
I can talk to my mom and my daughter with just a little bit of anxiety, but with anyone else, it's high anxiety time, all the way!!!
My last phone bill was $4.82. LOL!!!
I have agoraphobia, but it's limited to being out side my house on my own property.
I pay to have my lawn cut and my gutters cleaned -- jobs I used to do myself.
When I'm out there, I feel like my neighbors are watching and judging me.
(The question is, why would I care, even if they WERE!!!!? LOL!!)
And I'm terrified of spiders.
But that's realistic.
Anyone who can't tell that spiders are evil and dangerous doesn't have two licks of sense!!!!
Now that you mention it, I HAVE been naked every time I've stepped outside my door!!!!
Do you think that has anything to do with them looking at me!!!?
(Not to mention the 'passing judgement'!!! LOL!!!)
