Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I am new here and seeking some advice. I was diagnosed as bipolar 5 years ago. I am a 39 yr. old woman. I am still learning as I was diagnosed and medicated by my primary doctor so I am just learning all there is to this disorder and realizing so many things I face are due to this ugly "monster" So let's talk paranoia. Is this really all that common? I go through phases where it feels like my partner is defying me, people are talking about me behind my back. It's driving me crazy. I am on medication but same dose for 5 years. I am getting the help needed, but does this ever stop? How can I tell if I am paranoid or if what I feel is real? How do you calm yourself when you feel paranoid or pull yourself out? Please, someone tell me there is a way to stop this while it's happening. I appreciate any and all help.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

If you're feeling paranoid you may well need a med tweek or change
If you're seeing a general practioner I would absolutely ask for a referral to a psychiatrist
They expertise in part is psych medication
You shouldn't be paranoid for an ongoing period
Im glad that you found us
Welcome yo tbe board Insomnia...xo
But I think this will come down to meds
What are you on now if you don't mind my asking?
Please be honet with your dr, maybe they can help with a med adjustment.. And please find a psychiatrist who specializes in mood disorders
Meditation is good.
