Commonly Asked Questions About Side Effects
Like most medicines, ABILIFY (aripiprazole) may cause side effects. Here are some commonly asked questions about side effects:
Will ABILIFY make me feel sleepy or tired?
If you're like many people with Bipolar I Disorder, you may worry that medicine will make you feel sleepy or "flat," or cause you to lose your "edge" and be less productive. In clinical trials, 14% of patients on ABILIFY felt sleepy or tired vs. 7% of patients on placebo (sugar pill). You may not feel tired. But you should not drive or operate hazardous machinery until you know how ABILIFY affects you.
Will ABILIFY make me gain weight?
In 3-week clinical studies ABILIFY was shown to have a low risk of significant weight gain. The proportion of patients who gained significant weight (based on gaining 7% or more of body weight) was 3% for ABILIFY compared with 2% for patients treated with placebo.
