My mom passed away on June 18th. I was her cargiver and only child. Although she was 89 years young and it was "expected" I don't know how to BREATHE without her. I stay busy throughout the day but I can only do that so long until I burn out! I'm all alone now and don't know what I'm going to do!! I can only fake it for so long. I'm TIRED of losing my people!!!!

So is this a normal rate or abnormal?
I believe i have been BP since a child however,I was diagnosed in my early 20's now i am 45. I've been hospitalized numerous times where i actually lost count. I have other diagnosis's as well but BP is the worse one. My advice to you is maybe getting educated on this the best you can. What worked well works for me is I've been to Outpaitent programs and I learned a whole lot over that time. I agree %100 with MayB about the WRAP. It helped me tremendously!!!! Not only did the out patient programs help but getting on the right medication is important as well. Oh and whatever med helps KEEP TAKING IT!!! I say this because i am guilty of taking my meds and starting to feel better then my mind tells me i do not need them maybe I'm not BP and BAM back in a rut and in the hospital. So i guess what i am trying to say is there's no harm in seeing a therapist that specializes in our condition. It defintly won't hurt. I hope this explained a little bit more for you. Good Luck. You are at the right place for support. Keep me posted. :)
There is no "normal" or "abnormal" rate, we're all different. Some Bipolar patients have never been hospitalized, some are hospitalized frequently. It all boils down to the quality of your Medical Team, how well you work with them, how well you do on meds and take them, coping skills you learn to manage your symptoms, learning your triggers, and therapies you learn to help manage the symptoms like DBT skills or CBT skills.
There is a lot that goes into successfully manage BiPolar Disorder, but its very possible to do so.
Everyone goes at a different pace depending on many different factors. You can't compare your hospitalizations against others like there's a scale to be based on....it doesn't work like that. Its not that kind of disease...
