OK, my military service is done and I am fully retired. I am taking a new job a few states away, and I will seek help from an MH Team when I get there but that will take several months. I have been with my current PDoc and TDoc (or MH in the military) for 15 months. Saw each of them weekly and as high as three times a week when I was in crises. The relationship with the TDoc was not ideal but it was what I was assigned. I miss both of them. Even with the imperfections, I do miss them. Any advice?

So I have been having a lot of health issues and my cardiologist felt that he didn't get clear enough images of my heart in the office, so he wanted to do a Trans-esophegeal heart Echocardiocgram in the hospital. I was pretty nervous about it, because I've never had any procedures related to my heart or any other major organs. I've had knee surgery and thyroid surgery, but to me anything to do...

Your doc may know someone in your new state that they can put the referral into now
I would recommend getting into a peer support group when you arrive as you can do that pretty much right away
If you need to you can always go to the hospital ….. Big hug.....xo
Telephone sessions. Hardly. I was locked up in a mental health hospital on a TDO after an attempt that left me unconscious. I called the PDoc and TDoc while I was there, neither called. Neither called. When I needed someone to help me out, they were absent.
The TDoc said I need to find someone and that she can't help me.
Go into the hospital... not without getting myself fired. I work in another Secret space and I wonder how much they will want to know about my mental health? Don't worry about the old HIPA or Privacy, I am working with national secrets and national teams.
Thanks to all that replied. I miss both my PDoc and TDOC dispute our history. But onto the next chapter
There shouldn't be a need for a long disruption in your Mental Health care. Your Insurance should kick in the day you start work. I would be on your Healthcare website looking at Pdocs and Tdocs that day. I would get a Pdoc scheduled ASAP, go to that appt. and get things moving, take the list of Tdocs your Insurance covers and have the Pdoc you see recommend one.
Don't take several months to get your Mental Healthcare in place, its not necessary and for you it is definitely NOT a good idea.
Take care and good luck on the new job.
Kat
Thanks. You gave me an outlet to think this through and to listen to other voices.
