Hi everyone! I've noticed over the last week some symptoms like irritability and anxiety that are stronger than usual but last night everything sort of lumped together and identified as an episode. I didnt realize until this afternoon that it was a depressive espisode and not hypomanic but either way this is the first big one I've had in a few weeks. Recently I've been having worse anxiety including stress towards having episodes at college again, so I've been working hard on DBT skills to try and get that into check but it's not working very well. I fell asleep last night after a pretty big panic attack relating to the fear and panic towards having an episode and the incoming amount of symptoms and emotions. About 20 minutes ago I just had another one and I'm noticing that the depression this time is leaving this feeling of pain in my body and an almost sorrow/overwhelmed feeling in my chest. I'm used to depressive episodes but now that they are spacing out more it feels like they are getting more intense when they come back. Overall I'm frusterated and exhausted of feeling like this and at kind of a loss on where to turn next. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or any tips on how to stay in control when panic feelings come on. Thank you!!

So I have been having a lot of health issues and my cardiologist felt that he didn't get clear enough images of my heart in the office, so he wanted to do a Trans-esophegeal heart Echocardiocgram in the hospital. I was pretty nervous about it, because I've never had any procedures related to my heart or any other major organs. I've had knee surgery and thyroid surgery, but to me anything to do...

I would talk to your doctor about getting this under control? It's very unpleasant and draining.
I know not everyone can warn the family and go to their rooms because of work and other outside obligations, but you can warn the people you're around. "Best to avoid me as much as possible today. Having some irritability from bipolar/chemicals and I don't want to snap at you for no good reason, but I might. I may swear a LOT, too. ( < that might just be me) Sorry in advance if that happens anyway." Fair warning.
I still get panic attacks. They are kinda like, "AAAHHHHH! wtf??!! Ahhhh! Oh. Panic attack. It'll pass." and make myself keep doing what I'm doing. Sometimes it just manifests as chest pains, but same reaction to that. They generally resolve themselves pretty quickly now.
Recognizing these things at the outset,
when possible, gives you the opportunity to take some kind of action - either a coping mechanism of the chance to make people around you aware so that they can know what's up, not hold a grudge, and insulate their feelings in case you blow up and loae your s___. :)
I use describing my favourite room.... Describe it in detail out loud... talking it out so the fabrics, colours, art, ornaments etc..... It brings you back to earth within a short time and it does work.... xo
All those emotions you talked about I was feeling big time and I still am but, they are becoming less frequent or only happen in big life change moments that are really stressful. Medication adjustment was the foundational change that eased it for me. I really hope you are able to find what you are looking for and get down to the bottom of it and find what will help or needs to be adjusted.
