Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I haven't been here in a long time because I still don't think I am BP 2 so nothing here applies to me and I have nothing to offer. Sorry....that was my version of obnoxious sarcasm. The few I know in this group are great :-)
True tho...I don't agree with my diagnosis but anyway.....
Last appointment and at all appointments I am asked to fill out a depression screen. 10 questions or so...rate how often I feel sad or apathetic etc.. I hate the damn thing. My moods go up and down on a daily basis. Especially the last week.
We were talking and he asked if I had felt happy so I said yeah...there were a couple of days I was pretty happy. One day I saw something and it briefly made me feel like there was some religious significance but I realized it was just in my head. He looked at me and said 'The question was about your mood"
Welllllllllllllll excusssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeee me! I told him I felt a little euphoric and to myself I added kinda like the opposite feeling that I have now...you know the feeling where I want to slap your face.
I don't like psychiatrists anyway. He was offering me risperidone for my anxiety. I don't want more drugs. I'm fat from sitting on my ass anyway why do I want something to make me sit more????
Ugh....I'm angry. Frustrated. Had some bad memories surface. I have a tdoc appointment tomorrow then a 4 day weekend.
Just venting I guess. I'm really not sure if I am BP2 or maybe even BPD. I try not to google shit and self diagnose and honestly Dr. "Just the facts ma'am" can't possibly have any idea of what I am.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
I do know what you mean. When you feel like you are not being heard, just throw another pill at me doc, it's very frustrating.
Try to enjoy your 4 day weekend and don't let the bad memories take over. Hopefully, everything will work out for you like it's should.
Patience and persistence wins out.
I only go to him to get the lamictal. That has worked well for my depression. Maybe I will try the valerian you mentioned. I don't want to take a daily med for the few times a month my anxiety increases. I'm working on a few DBT skills for keeping my self together.
I don't know...I kind of slipped into a bad mood and feeling a bit more anxious. I was just set off by his comment. It bothered me a little when he said it and now it is bothering me more.
If he doesn't talk to me......and I don't mean the same way I talk to my therapist......how is he coming up with a diagnosis??
Meh....guess it doesn't matter.
Call it what you want, change it often I really don't listen or research anymore....
I'm with Tommy, they mostly suck - but I can get what I need, I'll stay...
I hear of lots of great pdoc's - but in 35 years, all mine have been 5-10 minutes medication management - nothing else, no how do you do..... in and out. When stable, I love every 3 or 4 months....
tdocs - again in 25 years, I've had two change me and excellent to work with. about 10 or 15, horrible fit. tdocs - LOL co-dependant lot : )
Fuck a title - treat the symptoms : ) It's just business, customer service - if you don't like him, try another! But really, the majority suck....
the name doesn't change drugs or problems...
makes no difference what color it is : )
Of course some people love to say they aren't really responsible for their behavior because they have xyz diagnosis. They can't change because it is biochemical therefore out of their control.
Have you asked why he's come to the conclusions that he has re your diagnosis??... I found that the diagnosis helped me a lot with acceptance..
If you don't have a diagnosis then it won't have a negative effect on your life... If you do I believe that you give yourself a gift it you educate yourself... Things then start to make sense and we become involved in finding stability for ourselves...
We are held accountable one way or another....If someone is 'out of control' due to a mental illness they're held as involuntary patients if they're a threat... if it's criminal they're held 'not criminally responsible.... Mental illness doesn't get people 'off the hook'
Big hug for you... I hope you can find some peace within...x
He only wants to know what my mood is. He doesn't care if there is a reason for the mood...it is not important to him. I have reasons to hurt.
BTW...I was not saying that people with mental illness "get off the hook" for significant behaviors. I'm talking about rude, insensitive jerks who just say ...whoops...I just can't help it. Bullshit. And yes...people do it all the time. Some people own up to it, others find an excuse. Hell....I told the doc that I think I'm just a bitch...or an asshole. Apparently there is a distinction between the two. A friend of mine outlined it for me the other day.
In the end all I was doing was venting and all I was trying to say was that I have a bunch of reasons to have anger, depression, compulsions etc besides a biochemical thing. Blaming it all on chemistry makes me feel invalidated. This was probably the wrong group to post in.
I only do the medication dance with my pdoc I go in armed with as much information as I can on what i feel i need and why. she balances that with my labs and tells me im difficult to evaluate because with my health issues anyone would be depressed and hands me my prescriptions and see ya in 3 or 4 weeks . oh she does ask if im still seeing my tdoc outside the clinic and how often. lol I think a proper diagnosis is still important for therapy. Or at least a therapist who will look at the real you so one is not needed. its all a mes but i hope your situation gets better soon for you.
The child sexual abuse you suffered is a big red flag to me. Abuse causes mental distress that drugs just mask and don't cure.
I'm sorry your shrink is a jerk. If you can't get another, I suggest you just learn to tolerate and humour him and don't expect too much. They have no clue how to heal. The best way to heal from emotional distress is love, especially self love. Plus a sense of purpose and belonging. Plus lots of venting to an empathic audience.
Venting is a good thing!!...Anger, irritability can certainly be signs of what ails us..
I'm sorry if what I wrote hurt you... Please continue to post here... This is a good place to feel as you do .... Situations often trigger our illness...It's happened to me a number of time...x
I also know that many people use herbs to supplement their medications regimen, but be careful with that. I take Lamictal and there are a handful of herbs NOT recommended to take. "Evening Primrose", "Opium", "Valerian Root", and "Ginkgo". Check with your pdoc before using any other supplement.
You can google it and find some facts that way also but the internet is just that. It isn't always right. I love the commercial about the internet where the woman met a "French model" on it. When he showed up, he was definitely NOT a model. If you have seen it, you will understand the hilarity of it.
I hope you find something that works for you. xo
