Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Stressing, it sounds, about more than just missing one pill. Yes, we need to take them regularly, but missing one pill won't ruin our applecart. Use your experience and "tools" of how you handle a bad day and pull up your bootstraps.
Take a shower, take your usual meds and the missed dose only and unwind however you do it best...computer, music, reading...tomorrow is another opportunity to have a wonderful day.
Keeping lists of what triggers you and what has worked to relieve them is invaluable. Several good courses, books out there. Can't stress enough how much DBSA has helped me. Two courses offered through them are LIVING SUCCESSFULLY and PATHWAYS TO RECOVERY. Pathways is from a workbook you can buy thru Amazon about $25 and really makes you work. Writing what triggers, blocks etc and goal setting. Excellent tool. And again, going to www.DBSAlliance.org is a great place for info and learning skills.
Feel this illness needs many approaches and meds are just one of several treatment plans. Also, support friends and family, support of peers, therapy, psychiatric care, alternatives like hypnosis-yoga-stress reducers-exercise-reike-reise, proper nutrition, holistic approaches, journaling and mental work on our own like goal setting. Many aspects to getting and keeping on track. Sounds overwhelming but with guidance and setting aside some time everyday when able, it has improved my life so very much.
