Memory issues

Does anyone else have trouble remembering things? I feel like since I started showing symptoms both my short term and long term memory has been awful.

It happens as you get older..it's then a matter of trying to work out if it is due to the bipolar, the meds, or something else.

I have some big memory issues as well and I find it disturbing at times... My pdoc thinks it's anxiety..... I think it's meds and getting older.... I don't like it either.... Big hug.... xo

Hi! First off, I'm sorry you are having issues with your memory and I hope you find the cause. I have been telling my doctor the same thing. I'm 33 so hopefully it isn't from getting older at this point, but I thought I was just dissociating and that was the issue. But after talking with her (my doctor) she said it could be brain fog from one of my medications. I have been playing medication roulette since I had a major manic episode in November and have no idea which is causing it.

I've found that I have more memory loss as I get older, I rely on other people to help me out or I just tell them that I can't remember. I have a friend who is 84 and she forgets a lot of stuff like that I'm coming to see her on a particular day, I just keep in mind that she really just needs a bit of understanding and I'll call her to reminder of things that are going to happen. It' just a little extra care that I have to put in to keep our friendship alive.

I believe lithium impairs memory. Bipolar patients are predisposed to a smaller dysfunctional hippocampus thus more likely to have bad memory.

I have zero episodic memory, can not remember a single thing from my past. Both short-term and long-term have gotten worse with 2 manic episodes.

Thus I am hoping to try cerebrolysin treatment imported from cosmicnootropics (Russia). Its been around for 30+ years for dementia, stroke, and traumatic brain injury. I'm hoping a few cycles will regrow my damaged brain from manic episodes, thc use, and ritalin.
