I did. It was the area on my neck that looked kind of like huge zits. I just thought it was because I'd been wearing wool sweaters or something, but now I know it was the rash. I wouldn't put it off again... it can be fatal.

I don't understand how can you die of a Rash? does it start to enter your body or something? I know it would make you look funny, but how can it be fatal?

I got a mild one, along with iching/tingling skin. It was not THE RASH. I still take the lamictal, (with claritin daily) because its the only mood stabilizer I can tolerate at all.

I agree with piscesgirl, don't tough it out. There are other meds that can work like Lamictal (they're in the same family) that the rash is less of a problem.

I got the rash and it was about the size of a medium pizza box. It was inflamed (about an inch higher than the rest of my skin) and HURT. My entire back felt like it was on fire.

Two days after going off lamictal it was gone. *sigh* unfortunately, so was my turn with a great mood stabilizer.

phucking shit i dont want this rash I pray that I don't get it because its the only medication that has worked for me yet.

i am scheduled to start lamictal tomorrow. my dr told me today that the rash when it spreads like "eats the skin" that is why its so serious. thats how he described it to me.

The rash if it goes untreated can cause Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

Not trying to scare you all. The rash is rare and would happen in the beginning and usually if you up the dosage faster than you are supposed to.

But if you see any rash do not take any more of it and get to the ER to be checked right away. It may be nothing and they will tell you so. But you could be having an allergic reaction and need help.

I was on lamotrigine for about two weeks before "the rash" appeared. Over easter i felt friggin horrid, muscle/body pain etc. In all probability i was just hypersensitive to it. when i did call my dr, i was immediately sent to blood tests to determine if my organs and stuff were still alright.

Yuppers, It's not the rash that should worry you. It's that it is a symptom of any number of potential underlying changes taking place in your body with your organs and scarily it can seriously affect/damage your heart, at least according to my Pdoc. Not something to take lightly. But I understand it is a RARE occurence so don't borrow trouble, chances are you won't have a hitch with your lamictal. I and thousands like me never, LOL

today is my start day for lamictal, and i took it many years ago, and the way they start you off on such a low dose and build up, i am not worried. but just in case, i warned my hubby to check my body all over every day.hmmmmmm he sure liked that idea. lolol

I got lucky, I have BPI and require high doses of my meds.
I started at 200mg then went to 400mg.day It has really been a great antidepressant for me but the drug insert info sheet that should come with your lamictal tells you if you have the rash you should stop the med immeadiatly and go to the ER.

I had to stop Depakote because of a very rare alergic reaction (3500mg/day) and went to abilify between the two I have to say I am doing much better. for the first time in a long time I feel "happy" not mania or depression just plain good.

I was one of the rare ones that had major problems with Lamictal. I woke up and had:
Blisters all over the inside of my mouth.
Tongue swollen twice its normal size.
Rash all over my body.
This happened within 2-3 days. My pdoc was out of town and the on-call doctor couldn't be bothered to call me back.

The way it was explained is that the rash can turn into blisters. When that happens you start to burn from the inside out.

It's not a drug you want to play with. If you have just a small rash area you might be ok,n just really watch that it doesn't start to spread and that you don't have blisters forming.
