I cant believe you dont want to get an A...?
I always hated grades; well, I hated grading papers, but that is besides the point. A single grade on a paper or in a class is not a measure of what a person has learned. Sometimes a person who receives a C might have had to work a lot harder and might have had to learn a whole lot more to get that C than someone who received an A on the same paper.
Research in writing assessment has shown that the difference between a "C" paper and an "A" paper is minimal. It is almost like picking out the same t-shirt in different shades of the same color--you like both of them, but if you can only get one you are going to choose the shade of the color you like best. That seems like an oversimplification~~but a C is passing isn't it?~~an A is passing.
My point is . . . education isn't really about the grades you receive . . . it is about what you have learned--what you understand now that you didn't before--what you can do now that you couldn't do before.
I often did not put grades on my students papers~~I hated grading~~I gave my students tons of feedback~~mostly positive and I asked tons of questions to help them focus on where there may have been gaps in their understanding and guidance in helping them to fill in those gaps.
I wasn't always the popular teacher especially with the parents who viewed their children as "A" students--whatever that means . . . but my goal was learning not labeling~~that is why I hated grading so much.
So if you can try to focus on what you are learning . . . your goal is to learn and from what I can tell you are learning . . . there is no need to waste energy worrying or stressing yourself out trying to earn a particular label for your learning.
Little kids are so happy when they learn something new~~they are so proud of themselves~~they want everyone to watch them~~the idea that what they are doing isn't good enough never occurs to them~~the thought that they can't do something never enters their minds~until some idiot introduces them to labels. You can jump rope, but you are just a "C" jumper.
Princess, we are all learners and we are all continually learning . . . no one knows what you can learn or how much you can learn. Do not put limits on yourself or set inadequate expectations: "And I know I won't be able to get an A on my next article . . . "
What the heck does an "A" article look like and what does it say? Who told you that you couldn't learn enough?
You said, "I am drowning and I can't swim." That is not true! People don't drown because they can't swim. They drown because they stop trying to swim.
Don't accept that you can only learn so much . . . or settle for just what you have learned thus far.
Keep your behind in school and keep learning . . .
The next time someone asks you what your grade was~~tell him or her something real and meaningful~~what you learned instead!
Hugs and tough love often accomplish the same goal~~You get what you need!
I will be around, and I have plenty of both!
And it is so true... a so-called 'C' student often learns more in a difficult class than a so-called 'A' student.
Lastly, re the post/ comment that he cannot believe you d/ not want to earn an 'A.................' To me that is an immature approach to learning... just my opinion.
Lemme know if it helps in any way!
