I went to the hospital last night...

I had loads of manic rage and my medicine needs to be adjusted....she thinks that the lexapro is no good for me and wants my doctor to give me ativan which is what works for me. My pdoc is so adamant about not giving it to me. She says it's so addicting but the hubby is finally going to speak to my pdoc to see if what he has to say is going to change her mind.....only madmark knew I went to the hospital so all of you are probably thinking like what the fuck but I am being monitored because the nurse says I can't be held responsible for my actions so I am not allowed to take care of my daughter until my meds are straightened out.....I almost got put in the unit last night. But the rage was only mild which is why the nurse made my close friend be the parent in charge. So without further aideu I better stop typing now because I am being watched.

Who is the she that thinks the lexapro is no good for you and wants your doc to give you ativan?

I remember from a past post the you really really want ativan and have been trying to get it but your pdoc wouldn't prescribe. Did you ever have trouble with benzo's that would cause him to hold back so much?

Sure ativan can be addictive but if it's needed it's needed. I'm on Klonopin which is a benzo and of course it's addictive but it works and I'm staying on it. Right now there is no reason my doc wants me off of it because it is helping the problem it was originally prescribed for. I don't know. Different docs have different trains of thought about these things.

The nurse who saw me raging last night at the hospital is the one who wants to switch meds and so does the rest of my family who sees me raging on a day to day basis.....

I do not have trouble with benzo's.....I never have....I used to take zanax and it worked for me until it stopped working for me and they had me above the therapeutic doses and it made me go manic.....never give a person with BP just lexapro and zanax.....it's a bad mix.

If I understand from your last comment you were on lexapro and xanax and were manic? Seems your pdoc missed the boat keeping you on lexapro in the first place. It can cause mania in some. Now she doesn't want to put you on a med that might be addicting when she already had you on xanax at one time? I'm confused at her choices of treatments. I can see why you would question them too. Please tell me she has you on a mood stabalizer.....

A previous pdoc put me on lexapro and xanax. I have a new pdoc now I have been seeing her for two years. She's the one who doesn't want to give me any benzo's. The last pdoc would give me benzo's like they were going out of style....Ativan seems to be keeping my paranoia and anxiety at bay and seems to be the only drug that seems to work with my geodon. I take 160 mg of geodon.....my pdoc says that an off label use of geodon is a mood stabilizer.....I hope she knows her stuff because I am just the guinea pig.....I am stupid and know nothing only what I read in bipolar disorder for dummies

glad you didn't have to go to the unit, hope you get the meds worked out soon. I've been working meds out at home also, with hubby close by. Good luck to you , hope your feeling better soon

I was at the hospital last night too. The put me back on my meds, and it is making a world of difference.

I totally understand the docs being cautious about giving you some meds because of past reactions. I don't understand why she would not want to give you the ativan though. If it works, why not let you have it.

I hope you get all straightened out soon.

Sorry the lexapro isn't working for you....I just started it and I'm only on the lowest dose and my anxiety is GONE! Hopefully you can find something else that works. (((HUGS)))

You know what may work better than benzos & it totally chills me out is low dose risperdal - like around .5mg-1mg. It works great for paranoia, obsessive thoughts & anxiety. It may be worth a shot & it isn't at all additive. I use it as needed since it does make me lactate if I am on it long term, but I use it as some people use benzos. In my opinion it works better as benzos are actually depressants and do make me depressed (they can actually be contraindicated for people with severe depression)

I really want my benzo's and I am going to use the hubby to fight tooth and nail with the pdoc to see if I can get them Thanks everyone!

Does that mean you aren't even open to an alternative that might help? With that type of comment, sorry but it's beginning to make me wonder.......

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
