Bipolar Disorder Support Group

At the beginning of this week I took 30 tranquilizers, I was going to take a hell of a lot more but I couldn't get them down. Will kept trying to call an ambulance and I wouldn't let him... so then he forced me into the car and drove me to the hospital where I spent the night in ICU. They had me to take off ALL of my clothes, put on a johnny and lay in a bed under a cold stream of air.
They wanted to shove a tube up through my nose and down my throat to remove any undissolved pills from my stomach. But, I told them that was NOT going to happen. I wasn't the one making the rules anymore though. They made me drink charcoal, black chunky liquid... so gross ARGHHHHHH and it seemed to take hours to get down.
Different people in and out of my room, so embarassing. As if that wasn't enough.. & I've had blood tests before... but this time it hurt like bloody hell. The needles felt as though they were penetrating my bones. Some sort of oxygen level test that they had to do. I've got bruises on my arms because of it. I went from wanting to die to wanting to rip someone's frigging head off.
I'm back home and back to making the rules. Nothing here could ever be that bad. THAT IS NEVER HAPPENING AGAIN!!!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

That sounds Horrible, but I'm glad you didn't die, hon. Yeah, I remember someone else that tried that last year, and he said the Same Thing.
What things are you thinking about doing differently now that you are back home?
*hugs*
I've been thru the process twice, the last one being 2 1/2 years ago. I will never forget the horror of drinking that charcoal!
The nurses and doctor explained it is meant to clear all the drugs out of the body as soon as possible. This minimizes the damage to your kidneys.
It is strange to me how protecting my kidneys and avoiding charcoal is enough to prevent me from overdosing again. Well, there are other reasons for not going suicidal any more, but that would be off topic.
Glad to have you back!!!
BIg hugs, and hope you recover soon.
Then they DID shove a tube down my throat and made me vomit everything out. And then they poked needles on my veins to do a blood test to determine the level of lithium in my body (I OD'ed on lithium).
Then they put me in observation ward for the night and put me in the psychiatric ward AGAINST MY WILL the next day. I was treated like a child and was allowed only 5 mins bathroom time.
So I understand your frustration from wanting to die to wanting to kill someone.
I don't want to do it again either. Hopefully I won't. I don't know. Sometimes I think and consider other solutions that would be better and more permanent, but then I think of the so called good things in life (blah! whatever!) and so I just don't do them.
I'm glad you're alright. If you wanna talk, you can add me or message me. Just in case there's some leftover feelings of... I don't know. Just glad you're okay. Hugs.
Are you going to be following up with a tdoc??
My suicide attempt went a lot further and I ended up in a coma for 5 days with multiple interventions to save me - I think the electric paddles, definitely dialysis and they put the charcoal stuff through my veins, so I'm glad I wasn't conscious for that. But Man the psychosis as I was coming out - nothing like I had experienced years before when I detoxed from booze for the last time. This was big, and if I wasn't already crazy before that, the psychosis would do that for ya.
Because of the MASSIVE overdose I took, which was basically EVERYTHING I had stocked, my kidneys were in real danger of packing up. Once I was conscious, you've never seen a woman so intent on looking at her wee to see whether it was dark!! lol
I'm telling you all this because this has been my "Rock Bottom" in mental illness, much more dramatic than had been my Rock Bottom with booze - which beleive me was dramatic enough. It can the the point from which you can catapault yourself into a new life, seize new solutions, go to the ends of the Earth to seek things that will help you. Be a compliant patient, but also be Devil's Advocate with with your psych all the time (something Ididn't do in the years leading up to the attempt - bad Idea, I need to have been less trusting).
But welcome back Kiddo, you can re-boot now and start again.
Comforting hugs

It was absolutely horrible. I can't imagine having to gag that whole huge cup down.
