Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
I would suggest having an emergency plan in place in case something drastic starts happening.

Be really careful, it can cause seizures, but if taken with an anti-seizure mood regulator like depakote, it can be managed.
if u've made the decision, and are well aware of the reprocussions then great@
its all these posts about gee, I don't feel good, i went cold turkey on meds, do ya think that has anything to do with it?????
that i just can't respond to anymore.
First, you doctor does not control your body, you do. If you do not want to be on a certain medicine because it is jeopardizing your marriage through side effects, tell him. If he doesn't agree or like it, fire him and find a new one. I tell my doctor what I will try and what I will not; they are experimenting with brain chemistry anyway, so why not have control yourself.
And, I don't think your husband is being selfish, no offense intended to the poster that made a comment; men are just that way and if they don't find it at home, watch out. You know if your marriage can survive that or not, but most can't.
Second: I highly do not recommend that you go off your meds completely. Looks like I just contradicted myself, but no. Another responder was right; get a different med. selection one that doesn't affect your libido. They do exists and your libido will come back fast once you find the offending drug. I know from experience that this is true. The problem with going all the way off is that you will find yourself - eventually - back in that black hole of a pit and it will take you a long time to build back up a blood level of meds to get your stable again. It is very risky. You will get a short term solution but end up with a long term problem.
Think about your decision, talk to your husband, and TELL your doctor.
Good Luck.
Princess my dear, You must remember why you are on the meds to begin with. There are many options for meds out there . Please talk to your doctor. Do you have children? If you do, you need to take into consideration the effect it has on them.
Furthermore.....about herbal supplements......
They are not regulated by the FDA so basically you don't know what you are getting from one dose to the next. You could be taking pills that consist of nothing but alfalfa or something.
I do hope you find peace very soon.
