Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
. . . After 4 years gone. . .
So I had spiraled waaay down in a depressive episode 5 years ago, and I ended up spending the better part of a year in and out of the hospital sorting out meds and getting therapies sorted out. Now, thanks to Mayo clinic geniuses, ACT, and DBT, I'm doing mostly good, though things have gotten rough recently.
I really appreciated this group back then and recently realized I slowly stopped coming here when I got better because I was afraid it would trigger memories of when I was doing so badly.
Recently, I've been dealing with some non mental health stuff that's pretty hard to deal with. A lot of it's digestive, which I think might be messing with my meds. I'm cycling a little between milder depression and hypomania.
I decided to come back just to regain that part of my support system, but I also miss being a part of others'. I had to make a new account because my old one must have been inactive too long. Really happy to be here again!

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I was "graduated" from active therapy to "therapy maintenance" around 2K. Peer support groups have been the lifeblood of my therapy ever since. It doesn't take much out of my day, but without daily maintenance, I tend to go back to the old denial habits where I make believe my symptoms no longer exist until I am bouncing off walls once more. Yea, allot of the support group topics trigger me, but those topics keep finding their way into my daily life, too. Exposing myself in the controlled environment of a support group gives me the opportunity to practice using my therapy tools and reinforces the progress I have already made with the support of folks who have some clues what I am going through.
But that is me. . .
Welcome back. Gentle support while you sort your own.
Welcome back to DS....
Daily check ins help me to combat denial and other issues I use as a go to in thinking nothing is wrong....
This is a community to be real in and with...we bipolar folks don't have a lot of places where we have that option so DS is important for letting your authentic self have a place to show up and be heard....
