Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I wasn't.
There are between 200-500 million buddhists and despite repeated western misinterpretation there is NO God in buddhism.
Buddha was simply a man. An extraordinary one, but just a man. Some forms of Buddhism will tell you there are multiple Buddhas through time.
In the original buddhism there was no afterlife either, that came from an adaption of hinduism to make the new philosphy (not religion) more palatable.
MAYBE , this planet was created by aliens, and we are there "experiment" !
Then we just evolved in what we are now.
Ultimately there has to be a supreme being who created earth and all mankind. Or we all wouldn't be here. Right?
Would I CALL him GOD? IDK ...don't think so
LOL I was raised Jewish.
BUT so much scientific proof ect ect... on TV ~ not going there to long LOL ~
But Hanna what ever U choose to believe in isn't in a U tube Video! Lmao !
Cheers To Open Opinions !
Just hope everyone believes in *something* to get us through the good times and the bad times.

Five Buddhist Precepts, which are to refrain from:
1. Deliberately causing the death of any living being; Thou shalt not murder.
2. Intentionally taking for one's own the property of another; Thou shalt not steal.
3. Sexual misconduct, in particular adultery; Thou shalt not commit adultry.
4. Lying and breaking promises; Thou shalt not lie.
5. Drinking alcohol or taking stupefying drugs which lead to lack of mindfulness; Thou shalt not have any God's before me.
Understand I'm not negating anyone's beliefs. I just find it interesting that we all have basically the same 'right from wrong'.
Wizz - Very much doubt a kid alone since birth in the wild would have survived. We are social beings. The kid would have found a clan.
I don't think Buddhism would seek to explain the creation of the world. it's here, it probabaly came from somewhere and it's going somewhere else.
IF and big IF..you were to ask the Dalai Lama he would probably tell you what the prevailing scientific theory was - because there is NO and NEVER will be a contradiction between science and buddhism.
Buddha gave a few simple ideas - the purpose was to make people's lives better. He simply said "try this - does it help?" Buddhism is about the here and now.
it does not seek to explain eveything. It's duarability is based on the human condition. We suffer and die and that is unlikely to change anytime soon. The basic suggestions in the eightfold way are again broadly universal.
I'm sure Buddha felt he could leave the cosmology to the "current experts" who were the Hindus.
However, you need to understand Buddhism rests on alot of eastern philosphy. It's not newtonian, it does not get hung up on duality. We come to it with western eyes and often make misinterpretations.
"There are no atheists in foxholes" all i know that for me, belief is all that has gotten me thru. and i see my family...most that dont believe, in times of great need turn to something spiritual. I respect everyones opinion here, but its such a personal complex topic...
heavy duty
lets lighten the mood and talk about politics!!!
I've heard it before. It's actually a bit offensive. I know you didn't mean it that way.
It means that atheists will change their minds under sufficient stress.
It is provably wrong from the testimony of many atheists who actually were in foxholes.
Final word - people who lose their spouses who are believers question or lose their faith alot more than non believers like myself start to believe in a deity.

I'm actually very proud of us. We got all the way to #54 before someone disrespected someone else. Must be a record. Sorry you had to wait so long.
I think this thread has gone on so long because we all try and respect everyone's opinion, and I can only speak from my experience ( damn, I should have had a disclaimer up)
Saying, not everyone, just the scariness in my family!!
I know there are groups that aren't necessarily christian out there but I want one that represents atheists so once and for all people can stop saying just because you are an atheist you automatically don't have morals and are selfish and wicked.
That is all. LOL
