NEVER wear jeans to an interview. Khakis or slacks, maybe a knee-length skirt for ladies, and for Walmart you could probably get away with a polo shirt instead of a button-up. But jeans and a t-shirt is always a NO.

Since it is not a prof position, then the attire he suggests is customary. If you were applying for the bookkeeper position, then you would wear business attire. If you want to be a cashier or sales assistant, then dress neatly, perhaps slacks and a collared shirt.

My one friend said that she had a talk with the manager that hires people at wallmart and if people dress up professionally for the interviews they won't hire them. That the manager said he wants the poor of the poor....the neediest of Bradford.....I don't know how true that is.....but I always thought that you should dress professionally for a job....My father also told me to wear jeans.....three people told me to wear nice jeans.

If that's true, that's stupid and discrimination.

I'm feeling my bipolar hit now... if someone told me that I didn't get the job because I didn't "look poor enough" then I'd be ticked... but at the same time, if I found out I got the job knowing that, I'd be ticked too...

I say go to your interview, but I think you might find better luck in a small retail store in a nearby mall. Right now is a great time to get a retail job with the holidays coming up and it's very easy to get a job in a store.

Maybe a nice pair of jeans with a polo shirt? If you're going for a management position I'd still wear business prof.

That's so weird about the jeans thing tho.. I guess if you go in looking really professional they'll think that you won't stay long? Overqualified maybe? Either way, completely crappy.

I have a pair of Khaki's that barely fit. I have something that looks like a polo shirt but it's not. I think I will wear that.

I agree Mary.....I think that it's completely crappy that Wallmart discriminates people who dress nicely to interviews.....even the cashiers that work at our Wallmart don't dress business casual.

Dont they wear Uniforms. By me they all wear the same thing. Just put on some make~up and wear some perfume. You can look "dressy" in jeans. Maybe some jewlery if you have it
