Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Hello, I am new to DS and also looking for support in general.
I've been trying to find support group meetings in my area.
If you belong to one, how did you find it? My online searches have not been helpful.
My ultimate dream would be to find a friend that "gets me" and I "get her". It's really difficult not having someone in my life that I can turn to through good times and bad living with Bipolar disorder.
Over 20 years ago I made friends that have children with autism which I had a very deep bond with. I don't think we could have gotten through it all without each other. Our children are now grown. We still have a bond, but don't have the contact with each other we once had.
Any suggestions?

Or look on Meetup.com Just ideas.
Hospitals, medical clinics, community centers, schools, churches, police stations, etc., are also potential sources of information, if not groups. Mostly I just keep shaking the trees until an edible nut falls out.
Hope you find something. On-line support groups are gaining viability, but they'll never replace live support in my world. Sometimes a body needs a flesh and blood shoulder to lean on.
