Why do I feel everything to SUCH extremes. I feel so stupid. I can tell my reaction is irrational, but it doesn't stop my emotions from paralyzing me mentally physically..... No one around me understands. How can they? I don't understand. I guess I'm just desperate to hear someone relates.

my understanding is that bipolar makes you feel things more.... I'm doing better With a good med combination but before I had more extremes... Your not alone it's par for the course... Don't be to hard on yourself ((hugs)) polar

Yup. Same here. I feel everything too much. Or I just don't feel anything at all. You aren't alone.

Don't know why we feel everything in extremes, either, but I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with intelligence. My shrinks agree. A few of them have indicated it might even be a sign of above average intelligence.

Welcome to the forum, Pru. We may not have the answers to "Why" but we have lots of empathy for the plight and we get by with a little help from our friends. Hope to count you among those friends soon.

I totally get the "extremes". I go into both extremes. It gets very tiring. So I feel where you are coming from. The crazy thing is I internalize my feelings and I am kinda able to function. Welcome to the board. Hope you can find what you are looking for here.

I am an advocate for meds and therapy. Since I started taking lithium, welbutrin, and latuda, my mood swings have been much easier to recognize and do something about. That's the real thing, I think; Having an outlet to express the irrationality of these feelings is almost impossible with words at times. I play music. Eventually thoughts break down into small enough bites that I can digest them and share what I'm feeling. I have found pride in the extremes of my emotions, and love in finding others who will listen and understand even if they can't relate. It gets better.

Welcome Prudence, hope you find what you need here! In order to be understood properly I know I had to learn how to understand myself. That took three years of therapy and training in my case. Plus meds. And sometimes understanding still deserts me, its just I know what to do about it.
