Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
The only thing I can base this on is my 50 year old brother who has been unmedicated his whole life and BP and my father who died when he was 62, unmedicated and BP.
My brother struggles horribly with memory lapses and cognitive ability right now. My father by age 50 was forgetting where he lived, where he parked, and had difficulty counting money. I also believe that going unmedicated can be a precursor to alzeimers.
Just my opinion, but I would much rather be medicated and take my chances living a more stable life then either my brother or father did. They had suffered terribly trying to deal with their disorder.
Is that even spelled right?
