I think it's cruel that she stole her son and ran after they told her the fact that kemo could have saved his life. He has cancer and his tumor is growing and instead of taking care of it like a mother should, she's being cruel because she only believes in natural remedies because she's native american. Well look someone needs to tell this woman that natural remedies stopped saving lives years ago and bring this crazy bish back to reality. What do you all think about it???

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

We all make choices...........it is not different than any other form of belief. We see this as her killing her own child, yet we might accept another having an abortion. I just try not to judge but "feel" their heart and trust that she feels the same anguish any mother would. So, I lift her and her son in prayer.
Hugs
"The Hausers are Roman Catholic and also believe in the "do no harm" philosophy of the Nemenhah Band, a Missouri-based religious group that believes in natural healing methods advocated by some American Indians."
It's worth noting that many of the drugs used in cancer treatment are derived from plants, e.g Madagascan Periwinkle. I think also one of the main research drugs Colchine is derived from the autumn crocus and so on.
The difference between pharmaceuticals and "natural healing" is just a case of semantics many times (e.g asprin was derived originally from willow etc etc).
We've not heard her side of the story and I don't trust press on these matters..how much truth there is in this story is hard to tell.
In short, there was a time when I would have agreed with you wholeheartedly, BPPrincess, but I have learned a lot since then, and now, I would only say that she is wrong if she does NOTHING. She SHOULD definitely make sure her child is treated, even if she uses only spiritual methods but does it diligently and aggressively. If she does, then the method she uses has to be the one she believes in for the sake of her child. I agree with Shelly, too.
Just sayin'...
But the question that inhabits my mind is, why is it so aweful to try it without the debilitating effects of chemo? Chemo not only kills the bad cells but also the good cells. There are absolutely NO guarantees.
How would I feel if government decided all people with bipolar HAVE to take Lithium no matter what because they believe it is all that works? What I am trying to say, is that we are given choices for lots of things and we take our freedoms for grantid. All I see in this story is compassion and anguish for the whole family. It isnt as if she is a wicked witch wanting her child to die.
Every time we have a "fit" of mania or depression and we take it out on our family, isnt it abuse? Should we have our children taken away because someone else does not believe it is right? In some cases, yes. Maybe so here..............but to chastize her is a shame because we are all guilty of making a choice someone else doesnt agree with.

there are some pretty good related articles in the side bar as well. note the one on other cases of refusing care. seems the Hausers are not at all alone in this, & it usually involves children with Hodgkin's in chemo.
not sure what that says, but i do know that chemo just sucks.
