I really wish I could read all of these replies but after 20 I got tired though they were good.

I just want to make a couple points:

1. Bipolar is a "spectrum disorder" meaning there are people that fall into all sorts of categories and sub-categories. You could be borderline BP2 with some symptoms of BP1, there is really nothing off limits as far as I understand.

2. A lot of people have what is called "schizo-affective disorder"

just the first site I found, but it could tell you some things. And lucky for us bipolar people - it is not uncommon for us to have this "schizoaffective disorder" even though in my opninion it is just another pinpoint on the "spectrum of bipolar"

I don't know if this is helpful, but what I was diagonsed with (and that fits me perfectly) is BP NOS (Not otherwise specified).

It basically means that you have traits of BP 1 and BP 2 and some that don't quite fit perhaps.

speaking for myself- no, I don't think it was a stupid question. Did take slight offense to the "is that all it takes" part..

Found that very dismissive & undermining of the extreme experience of those who really do suffer the gamut of BP1 mania & psychosis.

As you have had this confusing dx revision I know you didn't mean to demean those who have had dreadful experiences with BP1 (& yes are a tad sensitive about it)

There is a lot of stigma, people seem to forget, experienced by those who truly get woo woo crazy....undermining very real experience & suffering is cruel..though unintentional in this case, I hope.
