This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Hi, ive posted here like mad lol..i really appreciate everyones support.
im currently feeling really anxious..i went to my first AA meeting and im just like what if i cant do it, what if i cant keep committed..what if i fail.....? i dont want, espescially my sponser person to be disappointed in me...nothing bad has ever happened to me because of alcohol so i dont have a ..i- dont -wanna-be-there-again story...what if im too weak to be successful...im scared. idk wat to do...i actually wanna cry and sit in the corner of my room and cry.
btw no one..not even friends no that im on the path to have an alcohol problem..no one at all so ofcourse there isnt support...christina is my only support if i go ahead with this. shes gonna pick me up again to go to this non alcoholic dance party...i honestly feel like thats an oxy moron..part and non alcoholic.
i may have to go to this part with my brother tonight to keep my bro safe and in check cuz i have a bad twin feeling that i cant shake so thats why i might go...there will be alcohol there and i realize im not in control like i thought cuz normal drinkers dont have anxiety of how they will avoid drinking.
anyways..id love to talk to someone.

I'm glad you liked the hugs at your AA meeting. I know I felt very awkward and conspicuous at the first ones I attended but I did hear some good things.
The sharing of rock bottom stories confused me. I, like you, wasn't even sure I was an alcoholic though I knew I had struggles in the drinking department. I remember thinking to myself, "Man .... I have never experienced the things these folks are sharing." It made me question whether I really had a problem, etc.
I have also attended Celebrate Recovery. This program has a different (but similar to AA) set of principles which are all supported with scripture. These get-togethers usually start out with a meal, then about 1/2 hour praise and worship music, 1/2 hour large group meeting where a speaker might give a presentation or a member might share their story, and then 1/2 hour of small groups. The small groups are separated by gender and there are separate groups for those with addictions and those with other hurts or hang-ups. It is definitely Christ-centered .... no ambiguity about the Higher Power as in AA.
It's tricky to figure out how your life will be without alcohol when you first decide to put a cork in it for good. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
yeah this meeting was CA but it was similar to AA..but it was God centered..we even prayed at the end.....i got uncomfortable like what am i doing here..im not an addict..i controll myself i go to school get good grades and just unwind at college parties or get togethers. ive been drinking socially since i was 14.
I hope you found someone to talk to Itzjustme that could help you trough this. If you request the thread be closed, I will close it but I don't see any infringement of TOS.
I had to drop certain "friends" who were drinkers and had to stop going to bars and places where alcohol was served.
I would just suggest you go to several AA meetings with or without your friend and just listen. You don't have to share. Read the Big Book. And above all take it one day at a time. Don't think about having to quit for the rest of your life, just for today. Good luck.
Beck: i drink to drunkness for the same reason..and so when the speakers..chris was one of the speakers came and they talked about drinking to drunkness cuz they didnt see the point of stopping..i identified myself with that and so thats why she picked me up and took me with her to a meeting...she did say that thats how most alcoholics start innocent parties. i told her that i cant go to one alone cuz im too scared too so she said shed arrange for her sponser to go with me somedays and shell pick me up once a week...shes sooo amazingg...like she drive 45 minutes to me...im gonna see if i can drive out to her.
AA scares me just because im not so God oriented like im not an atheist but i dont lean on God..im not spiritual at all and so praying out of the ordinary to be cuz they talk alot about God and praying...so idk wat to do..u know?
