Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
As frustrating as it is, being a jerk to a cop isnt going to change anything. Especially if you dont even know if that particular cop is a decent person or not.
Assholes rarely interpret other peoples assholery as a reason to look inside themselves and change.
Most of the time I try to be as calm and 'normal' acting around cops as possible. Buuuuuut thats also because I have a number of outstanding tickets that may or may not have arrest warrents attatched.....
Where would our society be without them? They deal with some of the worst members of society so that we don't have to!
I have a lot of respect for them.
but cops are people too, really? I have yet to meet one that fits into that classification.
So, these days, I don't think much of them at all. Nope. They are like the word "God" to the Atheist during trench warfare. The intervention is requested only when all else fails.
Can't argue against one another's experiences.
Boy, I tell you--I've been paranoid twice this weekend and both times was lucky. One was a manager--I had my boy and C. with me at the grocery store and it looked like this lady was watching, but she explained that she has to watch the check out clerks to make sure that they have an okay number of customers-not too much or too little.
THEN there was the deal at the park.
Yea-Mouthiness is bad, but sometimes we all get nervous.
Cops these days do seem *more* ambivelent.
Part I
Stay Objective
The Gita talks about "seeing everyone with an equal eye." In context of cops, I guess that means treating all with distance, politeness and some degree of at least *artificial* manners or respect if none at all.
When you do come accross a GOOD cop, then you can be more nice and open.
However, since the status of "citizen" is now more like "civilian"
Yea-I mess up all the time, and I hate it.
I think that on this Dailystrength, we all love one another and care and we don't want anyone getting hurt, so that is maybe why sometimes we appear harsh in our words--rather like "Gosh-Be careful!" Big families tend to do that and DS is like a big family.
I have made a conscious choice not to have cop friends or a cop husband.
************TRIGGER WARNING********************
How many of you would want to deal with criminals on a daily basis? How about terrorists? Or gangs(daily where I live)? Or seeing violent murders? How about dealing with 4 children ages 2,5,7 and 13 whose mother was just murdered & staying with them 4 hours in the ER while they got medical eval? Or looking for the other body parts? How about holding it all in when your cop buddy gets violently killed in a crash when someone runs a red light? Or having to tell a parent when there teenage daughter was found overdosed? Or violent child abuse?????? Or having to take away the baby with the fractured skull from the arms of a man and an entire family that swears that they did not abuse it. This is the shit that most of us never have to deal with warps the soul. Trust me. I saw it.
Fuck....I could go on.
I don't love cops. I don't hate them. They are there. They have a job to do.
I hate the Police State which much of American States have become. That is another story. That rolls down from the top.
But at least show the respect that you would show for a monkey in a cage at the zoo. Don't tease. Don't poke with a stick or antagonize with foul language. Don't stare too long. Monkey throw poo at you. Monkey tear your face off. see?
Mind your manners.
