In the back of my mind, I always kind of knew that I was messed up, I just didn't know what to do about it or how to cope. I wasn't smart enough to cope without help.

Delusional by definition means that you hold irrational beliefs and can't be convinced that they are false. I've been delusional before and it's horrible. Looking back on it most people (including myself) do recognize that they were delusional at the time.

I can't say that I've had Any psychotic delusions since age 22 - ones that I can't actually remember - because at that age, something Else happened to me that may have "fixed" part of my mind but not all of it.

Now I Remember everything - being so "sure" of things, even though later they seem Ridiculous - like dogs breaking through the windows to eat my child at night, or other stuff...

But no. When full-blown delusional, I cannot see that I am not "right".

When I am delusional and hallucinating I think it is real. In stages I realize some of it isn't real. I was delusional for a year.

At the time when I was in a delusional state I didn't realize that I was being delusional. It seemed so real to me.

If you are truly delusional you don't know it. There are times when I'm fading in and out of the delusion where I question whether I am sick or if what is happening is real and I go back and forth. In my right mind I would never even contemplate some of my paranoid delusions. Other times I don't even question my delusions. When I am fully delusional I don't believe what other people tell me. I can't be talked out of them by having someone point out what is real. Could you be talked out of believing you live on the planet Earth when in your right mind? No you couldn't and one is just as certain when it comes to their delusions when someone tries to talk them out of them.

Others use their knowledge of my bipolar disorder to ignore me by saying I am just being delusional.

I don't while in it, unless it's the same thing every time and repeating itself. Then I notice. And usually someone tells me that is unlikely or that doesn't make sense, depends on how much I share. :)
