Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

Hi everyone,
The group leader suggested I introduce myself, so here I go: I'm 30 and I was diagnosed with bipolar 2 earlier this year via medication management (realized that Lamictal works well for me). Since I was 16 psychiatrists have diagnosed me with anxiety and major depressive disorder but now that I have this information, it seems to fit better (Part of me wonders whether anxiety plus depression and bipolar are actually the same thing, mistakenly separated by the medical field). Regardless it was a relief and also sad to realize the nature of my struggles. I try to remember that a diagnosis is just a label and there's so much more to me than that.
I have weekly individual therapy (for 6+ years now), a buddhist support group, and I'm in premarital counseling with my partner because he and I are planning to get engaged within the next year and I'm a self-help/personal growth junkie. OH - and I'm in recovery from drug and alcohol use as well. I'll have a year fully sober on 9/20 this year!
Those are the basics of my story and add in dysfunctional family drama, other miscellaneous physical health problems, etc. and things can be pretty tough sometimes. I'm usually able to find meaning in most unpleasant circumstances but that gets really tiring when you're pushing so much to stay in that mindset, so I let myself feel whatever I'm feeling so I can let it out.
Happy to be here and get some extra support throughout the week when I'm not able to see my in-person supports! Thank you.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
(((big hugs)))
Congrats on your sobriety!
Sounds like you are doing many things to work towards your recovery...I admire you for your hard work.
Its nice to have you here. You sound very practical! [I hope you find that a compliment, it was meant that way] I'm a bit of a self help junkie too :) Anyway, take care.
