my partner is bi polar and I'm finding it hard to cope . I have a few friends who are bi polar and they are telling me my partners behaviour is not her bi polar where my partner is telling me it is. let me try and explain. we have been together over 3 years in that time she refuses to help with the housework she says shes never done it and doesn't understand the concept of it. all I get is I knew she didn't do housework when I met her. when I ask for help she tells me I've no need to do it no one is making me.
her psychiatrist told her to help her mental health she must have a regular sleep pattern, go for a walk everyday ,and not spend so much time playing on her pc.she has just ignored everything he told her. her sleep pattern is..stay up till about 4am playing on her pc or watching tv.getting up about 1pm watching tv or on her pc going back to bed about 5/6pm getting up again about 10pm an going on pc or watching tv till about 4am . she rarely cooks us a meal just getting herself a sandwich or getting a take away.
so in a nutshell I am left with everything to do and I'm physically and mentally worn out. but I also have a mental illness borderline personality disorder but she has no regard for how I feel but then gets angry when at times I've lost my temper and unplugged the internet when shes been on the pc. I just feel like it's all about her mental illness as she tells me every so often her bi polar is unstable .(she is on medication for it) but I hate to say this but I've tried and tried to be understanding and I feel guilty for thinking this but all I seem to see is someone who is just lazy she has said herself she will only do things she enjoys doing.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

I'd be worn out after 3 months never mind 3 years... So it basically sounds like she ignores her doctor and will do nothing to help herself?
I'd be done with it... Sorry for being so blunt but it doesn't sound like you have much of a life at all with her as a partner... You can't change her if she doesn't want to change sweet...
Bipolar is a very treatable disorder if people want to accept the treatment... Big hug for you

Not wanting to instigate but... Are you a "no one"?
The late nights and irregular sleep patterns are common symptoms of having an untreated Bipolar mind. I have those symptoms, I know first hand what it is like to be unable to bring that part of our disorder under control. But there is treatment to bring those under control such as anti-psychotics to stabilize the excited/depressed fast cycling and above all, sleep medication to help the body reestablish its cyrcadian rhythm (its natural sleep at night, awake during the day rhythm).
As for the "I don't care" attitude towards basic house chores and living responsabilities - again without knowing age it's difficult but assuming you are in your 30's - there is no reason for her to act like a spoiled kid except to say she does it because she gets away with it.
Hope this helps.
thing with my borderline ive been diagnosed with co depency and fear of abandonment among a lot of other things that go with borderline.
You do see how manipulative she is being, yes?
Perhaps it's time to reevaluate your relationship. It's at Two Way street, not a One Way.
