My husband died 4 days ago and I don't know what I am going to do. I have never been alone. Married at 18. I am now 66 and feel like an orphan. I retired from hospice nursing to take care of him 3 years ago. Sometime I felt so over burdened not being able to get away from the house, but now I wish I had him back to take care of. We attended church before he got so disabled he couldn't go, but I regret not sharing the sinners prayer with him while I could. I don't know what the future holds for me, but God does. I just have to let him lead the way. I just feel empty inside.

I lost my husband about two years--very unexpected death..he got off a plane and died of a pulmonary embolism
I feel empty and lost. I push myself to try to engage but all I feel is grief and like a part of me has been amputated.
I don't have any advise other than to continue to talk about how you feel
My husband died on 8/6/2016 after batlling cancer on and off for 5 years. he died at 44 years old. i met him 30 years ago and was married for 19 years. I have never been alone either , as I went from my fathers home to ours when I got married. I often wonder how can this be God's plan for me? I understand your feeling of being totally alone for first time. well i have my 9 and 16 year olds..but that causes more fear because i dont know how to live alone, let alone parent alone. God Bless. you are very brave and strong to be able to visit this site just 4 days later
I just joined this site too and am finding such kindness. I don't know that we'll find solutions here, but if we can find suggestions and comments that help us know we aren't alone, I've got to believe that will help.
Someone gave me a book of daily short readings called "Healing After Loss". It's by Martha Whitmore Hickman. It's something I look forward to each morning when I first wake up, as it always seems to resonate. Just thought I'd share the name.
We can do this, Gracie - 1 hour at a time! Sending you love, hugs and prayers.
I am so sorry for your loss, and admire your strength and ability to reach out so soon after your husband passed away. I have not lost a spouse, but my grandmother six years ago. I remember the pain in my chest being so heavy that at times I felt like I could not breathe. I just took it one day at a time, and relied on my faith in God. You mentioned that you were going to church...I encourage you to go back. Nothing will substitute for the peace that only God can bring. You are not alone in your pain and grief. I will be praying for you.
