I will never forget the day that changed my life forever October 23, 2014 @ 2:30am. This day I will never forget because God called my dad home to be with him in heaven. My three brothers & my mom have moved on and are happy while I am stuck wandering why I can't be happy & I realized that the words be strong for your family changed me. I had to be strong for so many people that when everyone else was grieving I had to be strong. I know it's almost two years with him being gone & I am just now starting to grieve the loss of my dad. We had so much fun together. So many times I would get off work & come in and sit and talk with him until he just couldn't hold his eyes open anymore. He was & always will be my best friend but through this loss many of my friends said I will be their to help you through the tough times & they are now no where to be found.

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

I made an appt with a minister before my mom passed.. He was a wonderful man and was willing to see me as much as I wanted .... and I didn't even go to his church... There are also bereavement groups in RL... Big hug for you and a blessing....xo
I went to a bereavement class at a local hospital. There were a couple of people in the class who insisted on being strong for everybody but themsleves. They were functioning in life, but it was more like they were existing than living. One put that burden on them self, the other was made to promise no funeral or memorial service by her husband before he passed away.
There was an interesting service held by a local minister; it was for anybody who grieved. I think they even had it at a cemetery but I am not sure about that.
The one person who promised no service for her husband had a huge flood of tears, and it kick started her grieving process. My take from this is that while our departed loved one may not want any fuss over their passing, many of the survivors need some sort of ceremony to help them deal with the death.
The person who insisted on being strong finally allowed herself to be weak. She too was flooded with emotions, but as the weeks passed she realized that she was on an emotional path that would let her be stronger than she was before. Much stronger. And her emotional health was much better too.
I guess I'm saying to abandon your feeling that you need to be strong. Let yourself be weak, then work through the emotions (or stages) of grief. A good therapist or a well run bereavement class can work wonders for the process.
And after you get started on your path through the grief, let your family know that you were strong for everybody else for 2 years, and that now they need to be strong for you.
Gentle hugs
