When i was in the ER February 16th 2025, i was being admitted to ICU where i was for 3 weeks, then had to relearn to walk for 3 weeks in another hospital rehab floor, the nurse told me something that made me feel for over 18 months now that i was finally *safe*. She told me that the guy who raped and beat me 21 years ago now almost 20 years at that time, was in prison as of a month before that...

I offer you my deepest condolences. In the message of the Redeemer, there is an offer of hope to all.
There is always an audience in online forums and chat rooms dealing with a loss. Keep in touch. When grief is overwhelming and you are unable to cope, consultation with a bereavement/grief therapy/counseling specialist is an option. Processing can be confusing; and what you feel will not always be easily explained. There are periods of time when you will feel like a ship in a storm. The aim now is to alter complicated behavior of grieving. Hopefully, you have trusted family and friends to observe you and you will need an active support system of caring people on call for those falling, breaking or giving way emotional moments.
And at no point is anyone's grief predictable. You deserve lots of patience, warmth and genuineness and empathy during communication of your thoughts and feelings. And no relationship will ever parallel with that associated with your dear beloved wife. However, many desire to move ahead to therapeutic relationships in order to ease the pain and loneliness.
There are several interesting support groups at this site in which you may decide to join as you feel anxious, depressed, alone or any type of personal challenges. Many articles or resources are available at the Sharecare division of this DS support system. You may even speak with professional consultants directly online at this site. Many ready resources are available to offer useful information, as you seek to deal with certain problems and find yourself in need of a suggestive course of action to handle your situation in a comfortable way. Generally speaking, stay encouraged. Please, do not bound yourself to shackles of self-pity, doubt or discouragement; coming to this site for support is a noble pursuit. I pray you well.
I leave you with the hope of a great transcending happiness, even during the most humble and forlorn moments of your grief and pain.
