The 1 year anniversary of my mother's death just passed last week. The day started off okay, until a resident at work came to the office. On that day, her bird had died from complications of what was supposed to have been a life-prolonging operation. I've been keeping myself busy, so I wouldn't have time to think about it. We didn't have much of a relationship, and my family didn't care to notify me of her passing. Only recently, my aunt actually responded to me by accepting my friend request on Facebook. And even then, communication has basically been nil. What can I expect? We've been estranged for a long time.
I recently started my Avon business again, which I hadn't planned on. Due to issues with a friend, I rejoined. These past couple of months have literally been non-stop, with activities and events to attend every weekend. And now working on getting my business up and running again... Needless to say, I'm a bit--well, more than a bit--stressed by it all.
It's days like today that I wish I had my mom to talk to. It's been hell at work all week. And yesterday--when it was already too late--I realized that I missed the sales target by only a few bucks. If I was able to have even 30 minutes of quiet time on Wednesday, I would've met that goal. I forgot to follow-up with a couple of people, and then there's the items for the shoeboxes. Then this morning my son woke me up out of a very deep sleep at 6:19am, screaming for a bottle. My husband was sleeping next to him, and started patting his chest, which usually calms him down. Since I was up so early, I figured I would stop by Walmart to finally pick up the items for the shoeboxes. That didn't happen!
Someone once told me after I first learned of her passing that the reason I was having a difficult processing it--or dealing with it--was because of our very strained relationship. That I wasn't really mourning her, but more of the relationship or the idea of a relationship that I wished I had with her. I'm trying to be that for my own daughter, but more often than not, I'm finding myself disciplining her for every little thing.
Sorry for the rambling! I'm at that point today where I'm ready to blow up at someone.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

I agree, you are quite possibly mourning the loss of the relationship you wished you could have had rather than the one that you had.
I think the trick is to know when you are feeling this way so you can take steps to deal with it. Some people (mostly guys?) like to get some large muscle movement to relieve this stress. It could be hitting a punching bag, riding a bike, going for a run, or some other workout like thing.
Not sure what would work for you, we are all different.
I like you told myself before I had kids I'd never be like she was to me and I had slip ups with my oldest and have some now with my baby. All you can do is take it one day at a time, even one minute at a time doing the best you can!!
One of the stages of grief is anger and people can get stuck in stages...Elizabeth Kubler Ross has written incredible books on death and dying and the stages that you can go through
Lashing out at your daughter can come back to bite you....Perhaps this is might be a better time to have some still time with your family ?....Is that possible ?...Can someone of the other stuff wait if your temper is not under a control ?
Be good to you...You deserve it as does your family... Going non stop can cause a lot of problems due to the stress and exhaustion that it causes....xo
