Bedwetting Support Group
Bedwetting (or nocturnal enuresis or sleepwetting) is involuntary urination while asleep. It is the normal state of affairs in infancy, but can be a source of embarrassment when it persists into school age or the teen or adult years. Find others who are coping with a bedwetting problem and share your experiences and questions.
On the other hand, since you say you've "never had the strongest bladder in the world", maybe there is an underlying problem or weakness in your bladder that you've just always managed up to this point, and now something is different in your life (maybe stress?) that is making it more difficult for you to cope with.
In either case, make sure you rule out any underlying medical issues, because many of those can get worse if not treated!
One thing that I think definitely can contribute to an increase in frequency of wetting is an increased reliance on diapers/nappies -- which I realize can be kind of a vicious circle -- but once your body is "used to" the protection being there, you start to lose some of your ingrained inhibitions against urinating with your clothes on, and over time it can become harder to resist the urge when you need to go. Still, it sounds like you're not using protection all the time and you do need to protect yourself against embarrassing accidents while in public, so not sure if there's much different you could do there.
Good luck, let us know how you get along!
I hope you're able to find something that helps for you! Did you ever have a bedwetting problem (or any other bladder problem) when you were younger? Or did you just wet the bed a couple of years ago for literally the first time? Do you have to go to the bathroom during the day more often than most other people you know? If it's a lifelong bladder issue there might not be much to be done about it, but if it's a recent medical issue there may be hope for improvement depending on what the underlying cause is.
I'm 48 and have been suffering from bed wetting for 6 months now. It's not the first time this has happened to me but it is by far the longest.
I reluctantly started wearing a nappy when washing, smells, mattress etc became impossible to manage and they have helped me get a good nights sleep. But I'm wearing them and needing them almost every night and as mentioned by someone by wearing them I think I may have become dependent on them.
I am very worried that this will continue into daytime issues and am getting 'spots' on my underwear. I am not using any pads or protection during the day as don't want it to become the same as needing a nappy at night. I don't know what to do.
