So, I am told that it is good to write out what goes through my mind during my panic/anxiety...that way I'll become bored with the thought and desensitize myself. I wanted to post this is case anyone else has this feeling or thought.
When I start to panic my mind and my head feels this immense pressure, almost like a headache you can't pinpoint. My heart goes on full blast surge mode which elevates my senses. Everything intensifies and my surroundings seem almost unreal, like I am not really seeing what I am seeing. BOOM! My mind focuses on breathing..."what if I stop breathing?" "this may be my last breath!! I can feel it!!" My chest tightens and I try to take deep breaths....this causes me to feel the tightness even more. The sensation in my head radiates and I want to pull over but I must keep going! I fear blacking out and my vision just going dark. My mind only thinks of making it through and zoning in on breathing. I am afraid of never returning from the blackness. I'm sweaty and any change or stop makes it worse. I recount each breath, hoping I will make it through."
This usually happens driving home from work and I am so wired during my drive. It feels scary to write that out and my head still feels wonky. I know I will manage and each day is a step forward.
