Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I got married 2 months ago and I went from being really busy planning a wedding to feeling lost cause I have nothing to do. On top of feeling depressed right after the wedding we were told We need to find a new place to live. We decided to buy a fixer upper so we are going to have a lot of work. when the work starts I'm hoping it will lift my mood. But all of this is very stressful.
Anyway last week my husband and I got into a simple disagreement and I lost it. I have a hard time when people are upset with me sometimes I handle it better than others. That night I didn't handle it well at all.
I tried to catch it before it turned into a panic atteck but that didnt work. it ended up turning into a panic attack and I started to get the fight of flight feeling. I tried to leave the room so I could try and calm down but he doesn't like me to go away upset. So then I started to feel trapped. My panic kept increasing and the only way to get it out was to fight. So I hurt myself. I banged my head against the wall and scratched myself. At that point all I could think of was ways to make my body feel something so my mind would stop racing. All these crazy thoughts went through my head.
I eventually went to bed but the panic started again the following day. All I wanted was to feel like my husband wasn't upset with me but I just kept making it worse. I don't blame him I am probably more upset that igot that bad and embarrassed.
Now almost a week later he has been really sweet and trying to help me get out of the house and feel better. I just still feel like he is upset with me and this will all repeat again. I just don't feel like anything is better. I just decided to play happy cause that's what people expect but I'm not happy. I'm hurting and angry I can't talk to anyone because no one understands what panic feels like. It's easy for people to think you should just get over it.
I'm scared my not letting people know how I'm feeling will make things worse. I just don't know what to do or where to turn.
I hope this made scense even if my trigger sounds crazy panic is panic right?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Instead of hurting yourself, come up with a plan with some other things you can do when you are feeling upset (i.e. you can take a walk, get a drink of water, splash water on your face, listen to music, count to 100, journal, draw a picture, etc). It will take some practice but you can do it and in time you will see a difference in how you are handling your emotions and that your emotions are not handling you!
Panic is when you feel (remember feelings don't last) that you can't handle it. You can handle it. It is fear of fear and it cannot hurt you - just make you feel like you are losing control. Claire Weeks has a great book about handling panic. It is very old but very good.
It's hard to remember that the physical symptoms of anxiety will disappear naturally with physical movement, so practice some techniques to help you find the more comfortable and positive ones.
Also practice smiling in your mirror. This is an exercise that will help you relax the sensations so you can process the words, listen to them, and it will give you time to consider what you want to say.
Learn what bothers you the most, and work through that to help you move forward.
Best wishes.
As far as the argument. They will happen. It's part of communicating. People used to love hearing that me and my husband argued. On the outside, we were the perfect pair... they could see us sitting outside on the front porch in rocking chairs when we are 60 but what they didnt know about were the many arguments we have. I would be so angry with arguing and hated when it happened until someone said... IT'S COMMUNICATING. You will argue while communicating because no one agrees with everything.
Im more concerned about banging your head during the panic attack... don't hurt yourself. You are better than that. Don't beat yourself up over an argument or panic attack. Use the energy to do something constructive. As far as wanting to leave the room. Have a talk with your hubby and explain to him... sometimes I need a 'breather' to refocus and calm down and tell him why and what you need. My husband knows if I am mad and tell him to leave the room or if I walk off, I needed a breather and to not speak to me until I speak to him. I just simply need to relax and put things into perspective which could take a few minutes or a few days. LOL (Yes, we have went without speaking for 4 days before.) And for the record... we have 12 years behind us... been married for 7 of them.
