Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hello all! I have something very specific to talk about today. Its about my relationship with work and productivity, from the perspective of a high school junior.
I had an obsession with productivity for a few years, and it became something that set off my anxiety and burnt me out. It’s better now, but work in general is still something I eye with some dread. Now, I’m not lazy, and I do get a lot of work done, but I don’t enjoy or find interest it at all even if it’s something enjoyable like drawing and doing art studies or something incredibly important to me like researching colleges. As soon as my mind labels something as “work”, I’m turned off from liking it at all and approach with the mindset of “get it over with”. Overall this has made days quite a bit more dreary and anxiety-ridden.
Going beyond that, I sometimes feel as if the last few years of my life, since high school and what adults label “transitioning into an adult” started, I’ve been swamped with so many commitments and things to do. Looking back, it’s kind of hard to remember things I enjoyed because it’s all work. For context, I’m a student that takes on a lot of hard classes and also takes classes outside of school. Of course, I’m working to do something I enjoy in the future as a career. I know that this is something adults complain a lot about, busyness and commitments, so do you just get used to it? Is there something you can do about it?
That’s all. I want to ask everyone what their relationship is with work and productivity? Do you kind of get what I’m saying or do you have an entirely different perspective?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

First, I hope everyone is doing well, and continuing to fight that good fight! Keep up the great work on yourselves; I'm rooting for all of you!So, I started doing therapy at the beginning of the year, when I was in my most depressed state, but with my therapist, I made big changes and steps in the right direction. But, over a month ago, she couldn't take my insurance anymore, and I had to stop...
Understanding what bosses, co-workers, etc., expect from me stresses me to the max and keeps me up at night. That stress is especially harsh when the people I am working for are loved ones. Can we at least agree on a single unflattering name? The creative array of unflattering names for people with toilet scrubbing hobbies is agonizing.
Honestly, it does and it doesn’t get easier as you get older. There are still things that have to be done no matter what, like working(schooling), and cleaning house. I suppose as an adult there are technically more things to do like grocery shopping and paying bills that children do not have to worry about. But the way that I see it, and the way that I hope to teach my children, is about responsibility, but being able to take care of themselves so that they can be responsible. One example of self-care in this aspect would be getting ice cream after the kitchen is cleaned up from dinner.
My advice, is to take it one day at a time, take time for yourself, and reward yourself for completing your own goals. Everything that you don’t complete today can be done tomorrow… It will be okay.
