Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi,
This anxiety never seems to leave me. It's past 3AM and I can't sleep because I can't shake this dry mouth and choking sensation. I was completely free of insomnia for about 2 weeks and it was beautiful. I enjoyed every second of it. Then my physical symptoms came back a few days ago. I have been in individual and group therapy for about 6 months now. I want my life back and it's so heart wrenching to live in fear and drenched with anxiety. I experienced anxiety and panic attacks over 13 years ago but it was not this bad and it went away when my daughter was born. Sure, I have been through alot of trauma in my childhood and some in adulthood but why is this happening again now? This anxiety is kicking my butt hard. I get nauseous, vertigo, eye twitch, digestive issues, nerve pain, migraines, extra peeing, hormonal acne, insomnia, chest pains, tingling, shaking, panic when driving far, and most recently dry mouth and choking feeling. It all lasts several hours too not just during a panic attack. I have tried about every supplement and holistic medicine and therapies that I can (I had an allergic reaction to meds so I'm scared to try a new ones). I exercise daily, cut all caffeine, eat healthy and limit my sugars. I practice yoga and can enter the breathing Olympics on how good I have my technique down. Yet I can't shake this anxiety. Yes I know it's a part of my life but there was a time when it wasn't. I long for that time. I hope I can meet people here to support me. Having anxiety is so lonely and exhausting. I pray that God can have mercy on me and heal me from this torture. I have great kids, a wonderful husband, close knit family, my dream career, and great friends. If only I could get rid of my anxiety. I would not wish this on anybody. I was ran over by a drunk driver when I was young and endured much pain and long recovery but nothing compared to the pain my anxiety causes. What a powerful disease this is. I hope I can get through it.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Are you seeing a therapist? You probably have some trauma that is coming out as anxiety. I know that my PTSD comes out as anxiety sometimes. Also, the therapist can give you some calming techniques outside of breathing and yoga.
Hope you feel better.
Keep a private daily journal.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out. Separate your sentences and write about your feelings of each sentence.
You'll begin to see the patterns of your thoughts which will help you figure out how you want to change how you respond, react, to improve your well-being.
Anxiety is natural. Anxiety is a part of us. Learning how to make it work and stay within normal range can be done.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
Back in the bad old days when I was convinced anxiety was a disease in need of curing, I all too often convinced myself I had slain the dragon for good, only to have that gnarly beast return, well-rested, well-fed and leading a few other recruits the dragon hell. I hope I didn't lose you in metaphor, but anxiety is a tough phenom to describe in plain language.
My theraputed view is that anxiety is an all-natural, hard-wired part of my lizard brain (survival instinct) and that there are tons of tools to manage the anxiety overloads of life.
And it's okay if you didn't understand a word of that. I mostly wanted to welcome you aboard and encourage you to keep sorting. You are not alone.
Three years ago I was under enormous stress. First came anxiety, then I started having nightmares that I hadn’t had in over 20 years. Then memories started popping up. I had moved on and started a new life. I was happy. The stress and abuse I endured at work after a very successful career brought back memories of past traumas. I was able to endure my symptoms for 5 years and then I broke. I no longer had emotions, I was having flashbacks and episodes of disassociation and not even knowing where I had been, what I had done and how I ended up at places. My husband knew very little of my past.
So yes, it can come back. I hope that you find recovery and peace.
