Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. At the beginning of the school year, I decided to try therapy for the first time. At first, I loved it and felt so relieved to finally be able to express my feelings fully to a complete stranger and just have someone listen. After my first couple of sessions, I realized I did not like therapy as much as I originally thought. When it came time to have another session, I dreaded it because my therapist would bring up thoughts that I did not want to talk about at that moment, and it would make me sad. I could be having the best day but then therapy would bring me down again. I realized my anxiety is something I need to work on for myself, and therapy may not be able to help me.

Therapy gives your feelings a voice.
Therapy is not just all "fun" talk. Sometimes we have issues that we have been stuffing down for so long and sometimes it feels kind of bad (at first) to have someone drudge these issues up. But a therapist is a trained professional who can help guide you through those not-so-good feelings, and help you with ways to manage them.
I encourage you to continue with your therapy. You could get a different therapist if you want, and start again.
Ya can't climb a rope that is only attached to your own belt. I solidly believe that climbing out of the psychic holes of mental health takes a team effort with more than one member on the rescue team. For my own recovery, my pro teams and my peer support teams have worked hand in hand, helping me to view and heal my psychic injuries from a wide range of perspectives and theories. As an impromptu, ad hoc team, they have held me steady through the healing journey.
That bit of personal experience has me wondering if going those places that you were uncomfortable with in therapy will be easier to handle with the peer support you can find here and in other places on the peer support network. Just wondering. . . It be yours to sort.
Gentle support while you sort. Welcome aboard.
