Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. I have been feeling like I really need to open up and talk about some of the intimate things in my life. like my on and off again relationship. I am gay so I don't know if my counselor will be okay with talking about it. I know that people shouldn't discriminate but that doesn't mean that they don't or that they don't have ideas or beliefs that I have any right contradicting. I will respect it if i feel as though he gets uncomfortable and doesnt seem to want to talk about it. because everytime i bring it up he changes the subject. maybe I am looking to far into things so today I am going to just come out and say it. " I need to talk about my on and off again relationship with another recovery drug addict." " I feel that this has alot to do with some of my behaviors, choices and thoughts and I would really like to talk about it."
That's all i am going to say and see where it goes. I haved talked to my perscribing doctor and she said that if I really feel the need that I can change my counselor. I am thinking about that route as well. after today's session we will see. I am just super nearvous about it and thought that a post would deffinately help. Thanks guys. hope all is well in everyone's worlds today!

Both ideas -bringing this up with your therapist and finding another sounding board to talk about both your therapist AND your unstable relationship- sound like great to my own recovery program. It's okay and natural to be super nervous about the process. That all-natural human psycho tick is what makes it such a good idea to have a broad support base. It takes a village to heal.
Gentle support while you do the do.
Welcome aboard.
have to frame it as anything other than it is. Otherwise you aren’t authentically discussing yourself or the actual problem you are experiencing.
I would talk about it exactly as it is and if you really sense discomfort on your therapist’s part just stop the discussion and ask thoughtfully ask him if he’s uncomfortable.
I think it’s important to be able to speak open only and honestly so if you feel the therapist is causing that barrier then for sure start looking elsewhere.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
I think it’s very important that you should be honest to your therapist, tell him how you truly feel so he can help you better but if you think he is uncomfortable, you can ask him or you may consider looking for another one. Therapy is a like relationship and trust is essential for every relationship to work well.
Please keep us posted. Keep sharing, we are here for you. God bless.
