Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Things have been going pretty well for me lately. I've strung together a number of good days in a row, but this morning slapped me around pretty good.
Little background, I was having a pretty awesome weekend until around 5pm on Sunday when I talked to my parents and heard a big long story that sounded a lot like them falling for an internet scam, though they kept insisting that was not the case. After that I just felt this cold ball of stress lodged firmly around my heart, but I was able to compartmentalize and go on with my evening.
Then I woke up yesterday and immediately felt that same stress. Again, I was able to go about my day. I even got a text from them that they thought everything was just about resolved, but the stress just did not go away. On top of that was a bit of an intense IOP session.
So then this morning I wake up around 3 or 4 and just cannot get back to sleep. At first I was okay with it, but the longer I was awake the more I started feeling anxious until eventually the anxiety started to get overwhelming. I've been learning a lot on the IOP and could identify all these reasons why my attempts to calm myself ultimately failed, but I did keep trying.
Finally, around 6:30 I got up and a clonazepam and some propranolol and went downstairs to journal and soon fell asleep on the floor. Managed to contact work and tell them I'd be out sick today and then went upstairs and back to bed.
I'm feeling better now. Not great, but better. I just so happen to see my therapist today. So now I go through IOP paperwork and try to evaluate how I handled things this morning... And spend more time doing relaxation exercises and trying to let go of whatever the stuff with my parents triggered.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
You're writing it out, and you're processing your options and thoughts.
Making active decisions and doing things to improve your balance and managing to complete all the necessary tasks for your well-being!
Good job! Glad you are feeling better!
Congrats on another fine handling of your own anxieties. It's not about being perfect. It's about working it out.
So, here's to a better day tomorrow for everyone.
