Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi, this is the second time I've come here for advice, and it still feels pretty weird. So long story short, I had a friend I reconnected with after 8 months of us not talking, and the first two times we met in person were great, we were even considering going back to being friends with benefits before jumping back into a serious relationship, and then I had to go off campus for 3 weeks, and now that I'm back, I've been unable to get in contact with her over social media. I don't know if it could be because she's bipolar, or because we didn't stay in contact over those 3 weeks, but I don't really know what to do, because I actually really like her and I want her to be a part of my life moving forward, and I don't know how to properly communicate that, especially since we only met twice in person, and I don't want to come off as a creep. Anyways, all advice is appreciated, and I'm even thankful if you took the time to read all this.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Could you call her on the phone? Sometimes I think only talking through social media is not as effective as speaking on the phone. So maybe try that first.
It's hard to say if it was because of not being in contact for 3 weeks. It's possible she felt that you ditched her... but it's hard to say.
Reach out to her by phone, and have a nice, pleasant conversation. Keep the conversation light and friendly and happy... ask her how she is doing.... and if she sounds okay and receptive to you, you can ask her if she'd like to get together sometime soon for a date, and IF she says yes, you can then make a plan. Find out what she would like to do for the date.
In other words, don't push anything too fast. Take it in steps. Relationships work best when both people are on the same page as far as how quickly it is progressing. I wouldn't talk about long term, or telling her you want anything serious... at this point. You need to go on more than 2 dates first.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
After 40 years of marriage, and 66 years of social anxiety, I've come to accept that difficulty communicating as *just* one of the mysteries of inter-personal relationships. I seem to do best when I let my heart guide and keep cleaning supplies handy to clean up after missed guesses.
