Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
1. Defined area and specialty I take a narrow area in my profession and try to know it well. Knowledge can translate to confidence.
2. Read I have a family member who has a high position and does public speaking. He pays attention to set up and appearance. So work on what you should wear, what the screen should display, consider things you can control, read some articles and books.
3. Work on present-centeredness Concentrate on doing what you can control, did I do a good job this time.
4. Preparation I have become a better and more comfortable speaker. Before I tried to wing it a little a got nervous if things went wrong. I know spend twice as much time, prepare more, write down my presentation and things go better.

One thing to try to remember is most people don’t notice as much as you think. I mean I can tell sometimes when someone is nervous when speaking in front of a group but how it comes across is probably not nearly as uncomfortable as it feels to you. Plus most people aren’t paying that much attention to us generally. That is just self consciousness whispering in our ear.
Most people dislike the sound of their own recorded voice. I think it’s hard though for anyone to hear themselves objectively. I think it’s easier to try to just be yourself than try to change your voice.
Speak so it does not blow out the candle. This allows you to feel the breath and to know it's calm.
Preparation of appearance, words, and balance gives people balance in situations where they feel 'on stage'.
Here's to finding the balance that works for you!
I agree with the groups saying to have a plan. Forethought and planning reduces my anxieties in all cases I do it. The trick is to not overplan and forgive yourself when/if you under plan--try not to let this planning aspect be an additional stressor.
