Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I'm really, really shy and I have Anxiety and Depression. On really bad days, I pull out my hair and have a hard time controlling my emotions. Sometimes I talk to my parents but they never seem to listen and they always treat my problems as something I can stop easily. I have a really strong testimony of my church, but I find it really hard to go to church or other activities involved with it. We recently moved so I'm in a new neighborhood with new people at church. It had taken me 2 years to make friends at my last church and as soon as I made them, we had to move. They don't have phones so I can't communicate with them. I had had an experience when I was younger with my best friend completely forgetting me not 6 months after they moved. I don't want that to happen again but I fear it already did. I am a twin and for most of our lives we had a strong relationship. Now she doesn't want to be with me and she's always locking me out of her room or watching Youtube when around me. I really miss her and whenever I do go into her room (when she's not in it) it's like I'm going into a whole new room in our house I've never been in. The day before Father's Day this year, she and my dad got in a fight and now she won't even talk to him. They were in a argument and she kicked him... where the sun doesn't shine. He lost his temper and punched her leg. She's really mad about that and forgot that she kicked him. He keeps talking to her and trying to be kind but it doesn't work. He won't even apoligize. Neither will she. It's really hurting me how much she loathes him. He and our older sister flew up to Utah for Thanksgiving and she asked me as soon as they left "when will (my older sister's name) be back?" She didn't even say "When will 'they' be back?" She used to really love my dad and do everything with him. It's so hard for me to watch this. I once was crying for something completely different and I ended up blurting out "Will you please just apoligize to her so she can stop acting this way towards you?" He never apoligizes. I'm starting to think I have Autism because I can't focus or keep eye contact or even express what I'm thinking into verbal language. I rock a lot and my parents are always telling me to stop. I also seem to be unable to stop breathing out sharply whenever I see or hear things I don't like or even if I'm thinking. My lungs hurt after I do it. I have a bunch of phobias. My biggest ones are bugs, going to a school (I'm Homeschooled), Death and anything that is dead, I have Equinophobia (I can't get myself to say the animals name), performing in front of others (I used to be able to play the piano all the time and now I can't even practice if anyone is home), vomit, etc. I can't sleep. I have a really hard time falling asleep and I always wake up when someone walks into or by my room. I've also been having a hard time waking up before 11. I love waking up early but it's been so hard for me lately. I just wanted to write everything down here because I know I can't explain it to my family. This isn't even all of it. Anyway, I was just wanting to vent. It's really late right now and it's easier for me to explain late at night.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Your Mom had talked about taking you to that therapist. I think you should ask her to set up that appointment. You will probably have to be the one to bring it up again, and tell her that you really need to see that therapist. (And getting your dog, remember? That's something fun to look forward to).
Things will get better. Ask your Mom to set up that therapy appointment. I think seeing that therapist that she knows will really help you.
With the family problems, sometimes we have to leave it all alone. We can't fix everyone else's problems or tell them how we wish they would act.
Another thing: I was too afraid to do something and she grounded me from my computer so I'm just sneaking on. I know I shouldn't but she has no idea how much this website means to me. She doesn't like it and she keeps saying so.
If you need professional help your medical doctor can make recommendations to you and your mom. The answer isn’t your mom gets mad therefore there is no professional help. My mom was annoyed with me and my siblings constantly, for lots of things. Some mom’s are like that when there is a lot of stress in the family.
I agree about family problems. All you can do is manage yourself sometimes. I suspect your mom is concerned about you but also may not know how to respond to your behavior. I mean it’s probably confusing to you so I’m sure it’s confusing to her too.
I will add that if my kid were interacting with adults online, even on something like DS, I might want to monitor that myself.
First, make a goal for yourself that is for you to do.
Second, it's not your problem to solve with your sister. It's hers.
Third, your dad is not your problem. He made a choice to handle the situation with a response that your sister has to learn is a consequence of her physical action.
Fourth, your sister has her own identity. Just because you are 'twins' does not mean you will always agree, always be in sync, always be together. She is breaking away from the 'togetherness' for her own well-being and she is fighting her own battle within the family.
Fifth, your mom is probably the 'peacekeeper' in the family and is watching her teenaged daughters fall apart as they try to find themselves moving towards being adults.
Sixth, home school does NOT prevent socialization. It provides a specific environment for learning education requirements for an accepted diploma which society needs for the basic 'graduation' skill.
Seventh, you have limited social skills because you're isolating yourself completely from your life in general.
Eighth, no one else is able to help you. You are the only one who can change how you view the world, how you view yourself.
All of us here can provide support through words.
There are natural consequences for every choice you make and every chance you take.
Breaking the rules by engaging the online support network through hidden use of the computer is something you'll have to figure out why you're willing to do.
This is your life. If you want to change it, you have to take a chance on the immediate choice of getting back into doing things even if they are uncomfortable, and keep telling yourself that you are strong enough to do it and keep quiet unless you have something polite and positive to share.
Try being positive with your mom. Try being positive with yourself.
And plenty of hugs and support to ChristianWhovian
Your parents are NOT taking you seriously. Oh you'll be allright, it's just a phase, yeah right.
You should try and seek out help yourself. Call 311 and they can help you find someone to talk to. You need to talk to someone about the problems. Once I did that, I called 311 and they hooked me up with a helpline and I felt SO MUCH better after I spoke to them. They were also willing to refer me to other places if I needed them. It's good to call them. I wish you luck!!
Often, parents think teenagers are simply being dramatic, hormonal, or just having growing pains. They don't see nor understand the pain you are in. Recently, I decided to broach the subject of my anxiety and depression with my mother and she was completely oblivious to my struggles as a teen and young adult. She stated that she thought I was super shy. That was decades ago.
The advantage you have now is the amount of awareness around mental health and the negative impacts of anxiety and depression. You have access to the web and potentially countless possibilities of community support. Start researching places for treatment near you.
If your parents aren't supportive, are there any other relatives or adults you trust that you can turn to?
