Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

My 7 year old foster child is using hand sanitizers at levels which are hard to ignore. In the first weeks of the shutdowns, I caught him taste testing it and put all the bottles out of his reach for the duration of the isolation. In the two weeks since school restarted with the Corona rules enforced, he is again reeking of sanitizer and guards his personal bottle more zealously than he guards his PS4 game controller.
My organic tree hugger senses are going nuts, but that's nothing new here in the sixth month of Coronaville. I have been struggling with the entire evolution since my college days (70's) when we toyed with pandemic management models during nerd happy hours. Watching the model currently in action has been a psychotic affair for me.
Thoughts? At what point should I worry about a 7 year old's use of hand sanitizer? Then there are the 4 year old and the 21 month old. . .

I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Like mid said, maybe it is a security thing it makes him feel better. I think maybe learning some new coping skills might help him in these times. Maybe you could show him some of your coping mechanisms or buy him some fidget toys to use as comfort items.
I am not sure but if he is eating hand sanitizer that is pretty bad. Maybe if you feel it's too bad you could talk to a counselor for him?
On a side note, his telling of the other Corona rule lessons are ? ? ? I do not even know what I am looking at here. "Social" meant something entirely different when he was in First Grade.
He was in counseling before Corona crowned, but ya know, ya know. All the teleconferencing we have had to do with court and social workers has me doubtful that the Tele-Med innovations will be effective for any of us. It's hard enough to tell one professional from another in Real Time. We are muchly burned out on the talking head mediums.
