Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Two weeks of "shelter in place" were fine for me, doing little projects, enjoying hobby activities, watching tv. Then I felt it coming and it hit me hard. It is depression feelings too this time, almost like grief. Of course, this time I am never going to get better (I know I will, but it is getting harder and harder to believe that). The uncertainty, the not knowing is wreaking havoc. Having to stop and feeling like I'm useless is really hard. I feel frozen. I can only do the basics, and just barely at that. None of the things I would normally enjoy feel good anymore. Everything feels like a task. All I can do is lie around, watch tv, look at social media. When I try to do other things, I break down and just cry. Sometimes I just do them anyway and cry through them. I am adjusting meds and meeting with my therapist online later today. I hope everyone else is making it ok. I have everything I need and still getting paid, so I feel selfish for even feeling bad when others have it so much worse.

Name something you’ve gotten better at as you’ve gotten older.

I to had all these time killers lined up...and projects...and I happily did them...but I too eventually got bored of them. It is absolutely normal.
I started wanting to just eat chips and veg...and I thought...ok...so I'm going to let myself do this. My body wants me to chill out...and relax in this fashion...and soon enough...I will get tired of vegging out...and want to do something else.
It's just how we are. As for your depression and how it relates to and ties into everything...I can't really say, bc I'm not in the same circumstances as you. But I can say...just be kind to yourself, and have compassion...as to what your energy levels are...and what it will enable your body to do or the motivation it gives.
I feel like I wake up in the middle of the night...and start scrolling thru CNN and the news...thinking something else that will come out will change the situation. Thinking if I am hyper vigilante...I can be prepared...or can change something.
It's just all natural response to an unnatural situation in our lives at the moment.
Sending you light and love!
That's a big change of modes. I also take all of the effects of home quarantining...as an opportunity to reevaluate what is important in life. Are we so goal driven for others...that we have lost sight of some personal growth for ourselves?
In an ironic way, this is God's way...of here's some free time...be with yourself and get to know yourself. I guess this is me trying to find some positive in this situation. Thank you for your honest post, it resonates with so many of us. Keep in touch!
We get so many good wishes when we serve the pantries and I am greatful but still am anxious too.
I think of "social distance" as more "social alienation". We are not supposed to let anyone close to us. That hurts my spirit but for now-what else can we do?
