Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Actually, though, it makes total sense. So check this out. I took neurontin for sleeping due to circadian rhythm issues when I was having a lot of postpartum issues, and I would notice the morning after taking the neurontin I would feel way calmer!! No major mood swings either. So I googled it and an off-label use of neurontin is for mood disorders!!! Since lyrica and neurontin are so similar and used for the same thing (anticonvulsant, nerve pain) it makes sense they would both have the same off-label use.
I'm curious who thought to use it for that purpose for you!! Must be a good psychiatrist to think of that. :-)
I have trigeminal neuralgia and it has helped with symptoms.
Lyrica has more side effects and works with more strength for those symptoms that just continue even with the other medications. People who have relief from those symptoms are comfortable with the lyrica.
What I did, before I asked for a change in my prescription, was go through the symptoms, one by one, and the medications, one by one, and list everything that was changing. I got my visit out of the way first, then asked the doctor what options I had with the current treatment.
If you are considering a change to improve, figure out exactly what you want to improve, and use that as your focal point. It can make a huge difference.
Best wishes!
Salvatop -- I'm sorry the neurontin isn't having the same effect for you as I noticed for me! Seriously I was so shocked when I noticed I was acting and feeling far more calm and normal when I took them for sleeping. Hopefully the lyrica has a more pronounced effect for you?
